Yeah, I can confirm that the number from the SHOP app matches what is in the Rivian confirmation email. My early September 2019 pre-order has a number in the 15000 range. Again, we don't know what number they started with, but it is nice to know that these numbers come from Rivian and not SHOP.
My wife has been going on about all the things she is going to "borrow" my R1T for that her Model X can't do, so I placed a second reservation in early July and the order number was in the 52000 range. Initial pre-order was before I installed the app, so can't give you any data on that one...
They Rivian employee I spoke to at Mill Valley said that they wanted to test the production line for different options and different combinations of options, so they would be prioritizing by option levels. At least that is my recollection of the conversation.
Of course I do. But I also know how unpredictable range can be when towing with one, changing the load and aerodynamics. So if I am to tow with it and take it far from the charging infrastructure, I will always be looking for alternatives. Yes you can charge at campgrounds and yes, if I have a...
I've seen things like this in a couple of places:
This was taken from a Teslarati Article from Jan of 2019. I think I've seen it elsewhere but don't know off the top of my head. I asked one of the guys at the SF event about it and he said they still weren't sure if they were going to do it or...
Interesting. Had they specified that the aux battery would be 100kWh? I wouldn't have expected it to be that much. I was expecting more something that would give on the order of an additional 50 miles or so, so on the order of 25kWh. Wouldn't have thought they would add a battery near the size...
I've been dithering on adding this to the list of wants, because I may be the only one interested in it. But I was hoping that Rivian would indeed not only offer the auxiliary battery pack (electronic jerry can) that can be added to the bed when you need extra range (which from talking with one...
The main reason I come to these forums, and rarely post, is to learn from those who know more than I do about subjects that are outside of my expertise. I believe a healthy discourse will help inform all of us and advance ideas and understanding. As long as the conversation is cordial and...
As AJ pointed out, I'm a physicist. I'm not so good at social cues, so I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut about things that I am excited about. Unfortunately, with my constant babble she has started talking about replacing the Model X with an R1S. Could end up costing me in the end...
When I first saw the "nearly 10,000" preorders thing I thought it was BS. No way was it that low. Especially seeing the enthusiasm for the product from hard-core EV enthusiasts. Then i started to think about my observer bias. In full disclosure, my top biases are:
My wife has diagnosed me with...
One of the Rivian employees that we talked with at the Mills Creek event said that Cox managed a lot of high end service centers and they would be leaning on those to gain experience. I wasn't really sure what they were talking about, but the article mentions Pivet(...
I live in California and when we first got our two Teslas we didn't have solar. We've since added it but not because our electric bills were too high. With two Teslas charging at night using the EV rate plan, our electric bill was never more than $400 per month higher than our electric bill...
Yeah, that's was my understanding from them as well. I don't mind paying extra for something that costs them extra to build the car and I understand that they have to recoup the cost of software development, but it is nice to feel like you aren't getting hit for everything.
As a long-time...
I was told at the SF event that it will depend not only on battery size, but also the configuration. The Rivian employee we talked to said that they will want to test out the production line so they are going to try to do vehicles with all the different options earlier in the process to get the...
