  1. Rivian in cold weather

It will have no problem reaching those temps, you'll just consume significantly more energy maintaining them. I am "cold blooded" as well. Using the heated seat & steering wheel and, lowering the cabin temp to around 73 is a better way to stay efficient and warm. The default "auto" HVAC setting...
  2. Rivian in cold weather

All answers assuming you would purchase a Gen 1 as stated. 1.) 10 min 2.) Sufficiently hot. The PTC heaters in Gen 1 R1s are fast and hot. Not ICE hot, but definitely sufficient if you have realistic expectations. 3.) You don't need to be concerned. 4.) You can expect it to warm up in 10...
  3. R1S Range Drop in Cold Weather

Lots of good info on cold weather driving and range impact in this thread: Best practices for driving in extreme cold We still do not have explicit control over the battery pre-conditioning so, the cabin conditioning can only prep for best efficiency so much. Once the battery pack cold soaks to...
  4. Ongoing Half Shaft Issues… Looking for Advice

Yes, many people have had half-shafts replaced multiple times. My personal experience has been repeated replacement of the ting washers vs. the entire half-shaft. Both are a band-aid for the issue that will not last. It is very much a design flaw that does not have a permanent solution for the...
  5. 2025.38.0 Update issues

I don't believe defog mode sets the temp of the output air on the windshield, it just blows A/C air on the windshield. It is likely reacting to whatever your current HVAC temp setting is and, the current temp of the vehicle. Maybe try adjusting the temp and see if it changes? Agreed, the 2nd...
  6. 2025.38.0 Update issues

What is your temp set at when using defog? I do not believe there is any separate temperature control for the normal defog setting. It just uses your current setting along with A/C to dry the air. Pressing twice has always activated defrost mode which is full fan, A/C, & heat.
  7. Scratch on rear passenger door - how much to repair / repaint?

Depends how deep it is and what level of repair you are acceptable with. If you can feel it catch & hang your fingernail significantly, you probably won't be able to "buff" it out by hand. To restore to new would probably be around $1K assuming it is only in the clear coat. If it is deeper, push...
  8. App shows 'Charging at 0.0 kW' when it's charging

Same here, just happened to me, first charge after the .38.0 update. About 10 minutes after I started the charge, I received a message that charging had stopped @ 50% (70% is my set limit), and the charging speed tile shows it stopped at 60%. The vehicle is still charging but, the app is...
  9. Motor Fault Issue caused by cycling sound when R1 "woke up"

Similar experience for me last year, minus the loud clicking sounds/motor fault warning. Short story: Drove vehicle approximately 15 miles from home, parked, then returned 1.5 hours later. "Started" the truck, had the slew of trouble lights including limp mode. I immediately performed a vehicle...
  10. Can vehicle WiFi be forced to use 2.4 ghz band

2025.38 was just released to the public on Tuesday. We will likely start to see the heavier initial waves of updates to C+ subscribers today/tomorrow.
  11. Have original half shafts been revised?

Same here, 1 year and ≈10,000 miles after my first set, 2nd set of ting washers were put in. Mine were only popping lightly but, I also needed service for several other items so, added the half-shaft clicking to the list. I'm curious what their long-term fix is. I'm also curious what a failure...
  12. Winter prep: How do you keep range loss under control? ❄️

My personal tips from 29K miles of ownership w/QM Large pack: 1.) Watch your speed! This will have the single biggest effect on your efficiency. Running above 70mph will generally start dropping your estimated range. 2.) Plan on 85-90% of your normal efficiency. This is subjective to actual...
  13. Idle fee hate

Another strategy that can be used in situations like this: Reduce your charging amperage to finish when you need it to end.
  14. Would you still buy your Rivian today?

Yes, at the pre-hike price I paid.
  15. Car repair on hold parts unavailable suggestions?

For a "little ding" I would ask if PDR is an option. Much simpler solution, with satisfactory results possible.
  16. TANK MODE: When is update coming?

Gen 1 quads have the mechanical capability, it just won't be implemented due to the stress it induces on the drive units. Capable yes, reliable no :CWL:
  17. Rivian towed my operable truck 5 hours away without telling me they would charge to bring it back

These aren't luxury vehicles and Rivian is not a luxury vehicle brand. The comparison with RR & MB is not really valid. These are the risks people need to research and understand, prior to purchase, when dealing with a completely new vehicle manufacturer. Especially one that does not yet have a...
  18. Why don't I have 2025.26.30 update?

It has not been released to you, yet. The updates are rolled out in waves.
