No way to know for sure, but this review feels authentic. The issues mentioned are things others touched on, although most tended to gloss over, sugarcoat, or otherwise dismiss them. Most of it still sounds fixable via OTA updates. Others, like the tonneau issues... definitely makes me wonder if...
That is a good point. In that sense, yes, it is on-brand. (And I know there's a lot of complaining on the forums, so my GGG comment isn't that, just me musing aloud as I see him (it?) more often.)
Maybe it'll turn into a small revenue stream for Rivian. GGG DLC and cosmetics. "Dress up GGG in a...
Gear Guard Guy seems to be official, hmm? Initially, I'd thought it was just a placeholder but... it doesn't seem like they'd go through the trouble of making a custom animation as a throwaway.
It's comical but also seems somewhat out of place to me.
It's the only design feature I've seen that...
I'm south of Louisville (KY) and this remains the nearest Rivian location to me of which I'm aware. (Actually was in Chicago over the summer for a while, and your pics saved me the trouble of seeking out the location as I knew there wasn't much to see yet.)
Appreciate the updates!
The question is what does RIVIAN gain by doing this. This explains what you gain. I think it really illustrates what Rivian would stand to lose if the information were disclosed. If, for example, I found out today that I would almost certainly not be getting my R1S until mid-2023... I may very...
They'd gain the fun and excitement of getting to read all kinds of forum posts about how there are "so many preorders it will take forever to get one" or "there's hardly any preorders compared to the Cybertruck/F150 Lightning/<insert loose competitor here> so therefore Rivian is doomed to fail"...
Let us know if you get a price estimate, please! I know it will vary (perhaps even significantly) depending where one lives, but even a ballpark figure would be great. I've never wrapped a car before—never had one worth wrapping—but am definitely considering it for the R1S when I get it next...
Right?! I can't even crack my window at 35mph and carry on a conversation. Windows down at 90mph is just unfathomable. All I can imagine is my eardrums bursting from the wind buffeting.
I upvoted you back to neutral ground.
Their later responses clarified that "next year" means "the next year of SUV of the Year" awards. SUVOTY was decided in August, and they didn't have the R1S available then. Presumably in August 2022, they'll have one to test and it will be eligible.
Truck...
Do we know that for sure? I am pretty sure it was confirmed that gear guard would, well, guard your gear by monitoring the R1T's truck bed. Has it been confirmed that it will act as a dash cam? That it will monitor the entire vehicle when parked like Sentry Mode on a Tesla?
I'm assuming both...
My opinion: It's easy for things like this to seem Big and Important in a small forum. In the larger picture, it's important to remember that most people don't know who/what TFL is, and this isn't going to affect Rivian one iota. (And to be fair, most people don't know who Rivian is, either.)
Gen 3 on the wall connector. Looking to replace if if/when I get my RIvian because then I won't need to buy an adapter. My "understanding" (using that term loosely) is that any Tesla —> J1772 adapter will cause somewhat slower charging. It makes more sense to me to use the Rivian wall charger...
It's a 60A breaker so I believe I'd be leaving it at the default settings on the dip switches.
The torque part, I had planned on "okay, that feels tight enough" but your comment is making me think that is not going to cut it. My wife said "get whatever you need" ... until we saw the prices on...
Now THAT I can do! I read the guide (honestly, Rivian could publish just about any piece of information and I'd read it) and it looked.... very easy. Just wanted to make sure it was as easy as it looked. Thank you!
