SACDFJC, thanks for that commentary. Still waiting for SC to contact me. Reading thru some older threads I was making the leap to a 12 volt battery issue. I’m hopeful a mobile unit will arrive and be able to fix.
All, could not unlock the S this am using Rivian app as the key. Called CS and was patched thru to the service side. I was asked to use my fob, key card and wristband to no avail.
Car at the time showed 57% SoC. I’m now waiting for a call from the Chicago SC to schedule a mobile visit.
Just...
I’ve got the 22’s and will be getting proper snow tires. The S is a beast on slippery surfaces. As is your experience, I’ve been driving in Midwest snow for 50 years. I’m having to relearn winter driving with this EV. Maybe the upcoming Snow Mode will helpful, I sure hope so. No downshift into...
“Mine FWIW sounds like I'm in a constant high wind situation. I find myself looking at the trees to see if it's as windy as it sounds.”
Could not agree more with the above statement. From day one my S has had wind noise that I would not have expected from a vehicle at this price point. Kicks in...
Aardvark, I’d love to be your wingman…….so many great pieces of advice. Given all the various considerations I’m leaning toward holding off on this adventure. I’ll work on a couple of practice trips to build confidence.
This community is outstanding. So many excellent insights from varying perspectives. All you guys are great!
Charger anxiety is maybe the more accurate reference. It’s a fact that I’m still not that comfortable and confident in this wonderful S. I had considered a “practice “ run of a shorter...
Agreed, a body(heavy) in motion stays in motion…….
I’ve been driving in nasty snowy conditions for 50 years, both manual and automatic trannies and this car is hugely different to me.
Yaaaa, roger that. Already checked into some Michelin X-Ice for the S but out of stock at Costco. Do you think this trip is ill advised on the stock tires? Don’t know when the new update will be available with the Snow Mode, assuming it will be effective.
You guys are great! I’ve only had the S for about 2 months and not 1k miles yet. First drive in snow yesterday and man, what a surprise. Weather can be an issue this time of year on a trip like this as we all know. The S doesn’t handle the way I expected. And that adds to my trepidation.
Wow…….thanks COdogman! Your quick response is encouraging. Just build the trip section by section, why didn’t I think of that ?. Life is always easier when broken down into manageable pieces.
Everyone, thank you in advance for your kind consideration. I'm a first time EV owner with built-in range anxiety. I'm looking for advice on building a route to Littleton Colorado. Has anyone out there made a similar trip? I vaguely remember a thread about a western bound trip from the Great...
Yep, I couldn’t agree more. Took the S out today in first significant snow of the season. There is no better place than an empty church parking lot to test breaking, accelerating and turning. This thing is a beast on 22’s. Very surprised as this is my first EV. I’m going to be on a long learning...
