Rivian is rightfully focusing on mass-market, scalable products that will help them achieve positive cash flow, profitability, and long-term sustainability. Giving each of us what we personally want won't get them there!
The only time Rivian directly benefited in any material way from anyone buying their shares was in the IPO. Post-IPO, when you buy their shares, you're buying from another shareholder who's selling - Rivian doesn't see that money.
Check out their cash flow from financing activities in the cash...
Buying shares doesn't help the company stay alive unless they do a supplemental offering - otherwise it just puts $$$ in the pocket of the shareholder(s) who sold them.
I recently had the front bumper and a radar sensor underneath replaced, plus a door ding fixed. Both repairs involved paint work, and it was fixed in about a week, maybe a little less, with great communication every step of the way. I was pleasantly surprised what a great experience it was!
I have to admit that this video softened the blow of my losing my R1 LE reservation. I ordered a Model Y Performance the day before Rivian announced their price increases, and have already had it for almost a month now. It's not off-road capable like the Rivians, but I can charge it fast and...
I love Rivian's products, but the leadership leaves a lot to be desired, and they lost my loyalty after they screwed me with the price increase. (I sold my reservation, so I can't restore my original LE order/pricing)
Now, I have a Model Y Performance coming in May, and a Bronco Badlands...
I'd recommend you learn about sunk costs as they pertain to investment decisions. Your cost basis (or gain/loss position) is irrelevant to intelligent investment decision making except as it pertains to tax ramifications.
The key question you should ask yourself is what's the best use of the $...
You're right, I forgot about that. If Rivian was profitable, they could take the credit and pass it on to customers via a capitalized cost reduction, but they're not going to be profitable anytime soon.
I'm glad you've had a positive experience, but mine w/ Ford hasn't been any better. I have 1 Bronco and 2 Lightning reservations, all made within 10-15 minutes of their respective sites going live. I have an order for my Bronco, but no VIN or expected ETA. I missed the cut for the...
The best way to enforce a ban on resale would be for Rivian to only lease the R1T/S for a 1 year term, w/ a fair buyout price specified at lease termination.
The Model X is a niche product for Tesla, whereas the R1S is one of Rivian's bread and butter products. Also, Tesla has a proven track record, nationwide support, and a global fast-charging network.
This is turning into a dumpster fire, and I'm now questioning Rivian's long-term sustainability. They should really think hard about whether building the country's largest factory is such a great idea after pricing their product to niche levels and pissing off most of their reservation holders!
I still have a day 1 reservation/order for a Bronco.
Yesterday, w/ no clue about what was to happen today, I ordered a Model Y Performance since I was getting so sick of waiting. It's due in Apri, and today I'm even more excited about getting it.
The differences are greatly magnified by the photography angle of having the higher truck closer. If you want a real perspective, get a perspective of both trucks head on (or from behind) in the middle of them.
The R1T used to be listed at around that weight, but somehow it ballooned by well over 1000 lbs. on the way to become a production vehicle. I expect the production R1S to have a pretty similar weight.
