I think it's the only way to be assured that i won't have a dead battery upon my return. Even though its alarm and connectivity will be off in a public garage ....
Right now, the car is in the shop... let's see what they say.
but yeah, the driving is fun.
I don't know enough about battery science to be comfortable with these charge displays, even if they may be optics. But I really hope they are and a software update would fix it.
Yeah the software updated. And I've been charging to 100 % regularly. But I haven't driven it enough to drain it completely. Most was down to 19%.
Your experience is interesting. Perhaps in milder temperatures it's not as drastic.
i haven't had a chance to leave it unplugged more than 24 hours...
It's in a public garage with no EV chargers. But there are ones nearby, about 15 or so miles away. I will do my best to pocket to 100% and then drive it to the garage. Thanks for feedback.
It's a standard pack. Not plus. At the time of purchase, I had no idea that this would be the charge experience.
I live a couple hours away from the airport, so Ubering there would be costly. Might be better to rent a car in each direction. But boy, didn't think a nearly $100,000 car couldn't...
Gear guard was off. In fact, I even turned off the app's Bluetooth connection. If this is normal, then I'm not sure if I like normal. It's not reliable frankly. Thanks for feedback.
The last time I parked it for 7 nights, unplugged, temp was in 40s, it lost about 60 miles. I'm going to see if I can leave it for 48 hours unplugged in the next few days and see what would happen then. I hope you're right. Thanks.
I wanted to confirm this since the standard battery in my dual motor, gen 2, 2026 R1S with 22" AT wheels is under-performing:
-big drops in charge when driving --a 25 mile drive could use 50 miles of charge (20 d weather, climate set to 72d).
-8% drain (20 miles) when parked overnight...
I have the same exact build as yours.
Driving around New York in roughly 20° temperature, I can have a drop of 20 miles when I drive only five. Or I can park unplugged, with gear guard off, and the application Bluetooth off, and overnight, see a drop in range of 20 miles.
So I have no idea...
