  1. Rivian's 100Ah Battery Bank (Camp Speaker Replacement) Patent

    They're selling a $25 rechargeable flashlight for $175, doubt they'd price this under $500.
  2. Getting my R1S in a month - Excited, but nervous! :D

A week away from our 1-year anniversary with nearly 15K miles. We had an issue with the cellular module at about month 6 but it was replaced and has been fine ever since. It's my wife's primary vehicle but I get to drive it on weekends. We both love it and have no regrets at all. It's a great car.
  3. Lucid per car loss is crazy

It's the old Jackie Mason joke: "I know a guy who sells suits below cost." "Below cost?? How does he make money?" "He sells a lot of suits."
  4. Cybertruck Body kits are going to be insane.

I'm getting VW "Thing" flashbacks -- minus the charm.
  5. Best Front License Plate Alternative to having Front R1S Bumper Drilled

I personally use a tow hook mount, just making a suggestion that suited the poster's criteria.
  6. Best Front License Plate Alternative to having Front R1S Bumper Drilled

I just use the tow hook mount. Easy peasy.
  7. Generic tire brands - any good?

And optimally would smell like rotisserie chicken.
  8. Generic tire brands - any good?

Listen to Unsung. Tires are arguably the most important safety device on your vehicle. I'm sure Indonesia manufactures quality products but I haven't heard much about their tire industry and wouldn't want to be a pioneer.

  10. 1-year anniversary today

We're coming up on a year (next week) with our R1S (primarily the wife's) and coming up on 15,000 miles. Great vehicle.
  11. This guy gets it - "Cybertruck looks insane, but holding out for Rivian R2"

If I kept my cars forever then maybe, but I either lease or trade-in within a few years so I'd rather not throw a couple thousand miles on it - and in the case of the Rivian - eat into life expectancy of the tires.
  12. This guy gets it - "Cybertruck looks insane, but holding out for Rivian R2"

We've always rented vehicles for our road trips. Just doesn't make sense to put all that wear on our primary vehicle and it's a lot easier to deal with unexpected mishaps.
  13. Crap Rivian just lost fastest truck title (to Cybertruck)

I don't know about you, but I've been avoiding answering the doorbell and phone since last Thursday because I'm concerned that someone will be coming to forcibly remove my bragging rights. I'm typing this from the basement with e lights off.
  14. CyberTruck is more than Stainless Steel...Tesla excels at Engineering in so many ways.

The more I think about the range extender, the more problematic it seems. It's physically intrusive, eating up it's "best-in-class" bed space, likely weighs 700+ pounds (so like a passenger plane you need extra fuel to account for carrying extra fuel - or in this case, 4 permanent passengers)...
  15. CyberTruck is more than Stainless Steel...Tesla excels at Engineering in so many ways.

Like I said, it appeals to a segment of buyers but you can accomplish the same thing in other ways.
  16. CyberTruck is more than Stainless Steel...Tesla excels at Engineering in so many ways.

Obviously has appeal for some but zero for most. I have a GENERAC generator at one home and I can count the power outages I've experienced at my primary home in the last decade on one hand after experiencing a firecracker mishap. Would not influence my purchase one iota.
  17. CyberTruck is more than Stainless Steel...Tesla excels at Engineering in so many ways.

Is an $80,000-$100,000 storage battery that great a benefit?
  18. Official Cybertruck Pricing - Starts at $60K+

The complexity of dealing with stainless panels ain't cheap by comparison. And assuming your $500 million is accurate, every factory process is expensive until you consider how the cost is spread across all manufactured vehicles.
  19. CyberTruck is more than Stainless Steel...Tesla excels at Engineering in so many ways.

Is that supposed to be a compelling argument? Next time I run any of my vehicles into a free-standing refrigerator while in reverse and incur substantial damage I'll be able to effectively judge the miracle that is the Cybertruck.
