  1. Playing in the mud. Rivian R1T shakedown (w/ videos)

I haven't given her a proper cleaning yet, just some touchless powerwashing afterwards to get off the most offensive stuff. Created some scratches from trees while rock crawling that I will need to buff out. Our roads are getting paved this weekend, so I kind of want to wait a few weeks before...
  2. Give up your 3rd row for MAX battery (extra 100miles)?

Nice, love the photos! Congrats on the new additions!
  3. Give up your 3rd row for MAX battery (extra 100miles)?

"The distribution of the number of children per family in the United States is strongly skewed right with a mean of 2.5 children per family and a standard deviation of 1.3 children per family." So lots of families (30-40%) could use more than 5 seats, not even including friends or extended...
  4. Aftermarket Wheels Installed on R1T...

I wouldn't mind getting some wider wheels with less offset if I could lock out the lower ride height settings and have the warm fuzzy that I (or software/update) wouldn't accidently switch to a lower setting.
  5. Rivian R1T vs. Ford Raptor comparison side by side

R1T is fairly narrow, which helped while doing some offroading recently. I am surprised at how little body roll there is for how narrow it is as well.
  6. Playing in the mud. Rivian R1T shakedown (w/ videos)

I had the ride in rock crawl which limits the speed. The terrain wasn't really forgiving (mostly hard rock and rock dust) so didn't want to push it too much. I thought I would buy some aftermarket offroad wheels and tires and now realize how difficult they are to find. So I hope Rivian starts...
  7. Playing in the mud. Rivian R1T shakedown (w/ videos)

Videos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tjqZcLxsE16E7weR9 Don't expect commentary, was just for myself.
  8. Ham Radio mounts, installs

Any Hams out there thinking or have done an install? I just received my General license and haven't had a mobile ham yet, so it is all ground zero for me. I'de like to get on the 10M band from the R1T and have heard that can be problematic on EVs. I do have a contact that wants to do some...
  9. MTB Tailgate Pad

I thought about it, but concerned there will be a gap when the tonnoe is closed. Maybe that is a bit OCD.
  10. MTB Tailgate Pad

Does the inner flap slide over the pad when putting the tailgate up? Do you have pictures of the inner side?
  11. MTB Tailgate Pad

This is a Daiken Small. I should have gotten a "DLX" for thicker tailgates, not super happy with it so still looking for a solution. You can see where the inner tailgate hits the buckles when closing. Once it even unsnapped the buckle clamp. Not impossible to use, but not ideal either.
  12. Leaving to Japan

Wolly World ... I didn't know Tokyo Christmas Vacation existed, now on the watch list.
  13. Leaving to Japan

What is EGA? There is a place called "Kansai Cycle Sports Center" that was a blast, probably because I had kids the right age (pre-teen). They also have camping spots (cabins) were you can spend the night with grills setup and charcoal wood ready to go. It is old and run down and has a bit of...
  14. Poll: Time From Guide Contact to Delivery

Guide assigned last Thursday, first call Friday (because I could not make Thursday availability) then config locked and VIN assigned later Friday. Ready for pickup today (Tuesday). So ~3 business days. Has so far been painless, including guide contact to update insurance (I did the Rivian...
  15. Leaving to Japan

Home base was Osaka so have been more places around South/Central Japan (Kyoto/Wakayama/Nara, etc). Most of my work was in Tokyo so weekly shikansen between those two areas and Chiba (mostly just business districts). We spent one month in Okinawa and that was my favorite vacation ever...
  16. Leaving to Japan

Made it to Japan every year for over a decade until covid. I'm looking forward to returning (family is there now for the summer). You're living the dream. Mine is ready for pickup at SC, but trying to schedule a local delivery.
  17. Anyone delay their order?

Oh nice, I thought they were up to 10k produced.
  18. Anyone delay their order?

I have a VIN (under 7000) so it may be a reject. Waiting on local finance since Rivian is over 2x the interest rate I can get. Sounds like the Austin SC is imminent which will align well with my delivery.
