Car of the Year is kinda a wide open category and has tons of entries (greatest dud potential), Truck of the year is the narrowest segment (least competition), but has some of the stiffest competition do to that actual functional demands of the segment (towing, payloads, etc).
The Tesla Model S...
$79,995, okay "under 80k ?
A also GM has SC subscription for the Hummer EV, so unless you pay the subscription fee certain features on your vehicle are going to shut off and not work. Supercruise being the primary one.
Subscription services are unfortunately going to be making their way into...
Hummer EV 1st Ed. 114k (+possible dealer markup)
Max Pack R1T 85k
30k price difference
That's a 35% price premium over the R1T.
That's in line with comparing a fully loaded Maverick to a fully loaded F-150. Doesn't seem like a real apples to apples kind of review.
And again the optics of...
This is optics (or illusion) when the national average truck price is already in the 50k range and Ford is gonna charge 10-15k more for their EV trucks vs their comparable ICE offerings.
Ford made this price claim because it'll make the general public think they can buy one ($100 deposit too)...
If preorders jumped from 50k to 75k (or higher) I feel that'll have a positive effect.
Right now it's like a night club with a long line. Passerby's walk past and see the line and ask "well why are all these people waiting?". These kinds of positive PR and accolades just add to that effect...
It was obvious Edmund's loved it... Who wouldn't?
Let's go for a three-peat and have the R1T lock up North American Truck of the Year.
And just in case anyone is still wondering about the R1T
I still kinda like "First ¼ Mile"... F¼ Mode
Engaging F14...?
Still struggling, but I do like the novelty of a launch mode and figure that since we already have a Gear Guard yeti, why not a quirky launch mode?
9,000lbs (6,500lbs or 7,500lbs) 2,500lb difference?
Regardless, I'm still surprised at how low the Hummer tow rating is. Wonder if the Lightning will hit 10,000lbs at any configuration?
And we think launch modes are bad?
Imagine this! Pay top dollar for 5 seconds at a time. Wonder how long you have to wait to goose out another 5 seconds? Not to me, this is totally unacceptable.
"the Mach-E GT only ever gets 5 consecutive seconds of full-power, which ultimately makes this...
I feel your pain!
Leased my Model S, ran over a pot hole and broke a strut.
10 months to get it fixed (with no car). Tesla (CA plant) didn't have any parts to fix my vehicle. They had to literally make them custom because Tesla already changed manufacturing parts with the 2015-216 refresh and...
Maybe you're right, but everything that I remember hearing just said put your foot on the brake and then hit the accelerator and take your foot off the brake. It sounded more like just doing a manual launch as opposed to an actual mode.
I jokingly thought of Billy Goat mode. After all rivian is as sure-footed as a mountain goat.
Just think about it the front of the truck lowers down, the battery pack warms up, the car starts making loud goat noises, and then poof it launches!
Yeah the Maverick with its MPG ratings and just overall price point and value makes it a very compelling candidate, but that's all it has going for it. I wouldn't even consider it closed in my opinion. The R1T just does everything, and does everything so well.
Motor Trend says the thing handles...
