I’ve had the Li battery and now their sodium version. Ohmmu didn’t fail with the Li battery, A Rivian software update changed the charging parameters to try and fix their problems with the Lead batteries and it cause a nuisance fault with the Li. It never stopped working, it was just an annoyance to look at. They sent me a sodium replacement for free and I’ve had zero issue with it. I’d absolutely recommend them.
Short dive into Na charge voltage indicates higher voltage compared to Li. I assume top charge voltage was increased to 14.6 - 14.8+ range with the LA battery and could give Li some issues. Na goes to 15.6 - 16.0 range. Even if short charged a bit does not cause capacity loss like the LA.

My 2 x Ohmmu 12V sodium batteries arrived yesterday, and I was able to install them today.

I followed their video instructions, and it went off without a hitch. After replacing the batteries and a hard reset of my 2022 R1T, all my errors cleared, and I was able to drive it around all day with no issue.

For the curious, here are some photos of my Ohmmu batteries before I installed them in my vehicle:

I wish a took a photo of it before dropping them in, but I had a 12V battery tester that I tested the Ohmmu batteries with, and they were able to crank out 500+ Amps as advertised (not that that's needed, being Rivian seems to only pull about 30 Amps from the 12V batteries).

For those curious, here are some photos of my old Rivian OEM 12V batteries that the Ohmmus replaced:

I ran my battery tester on both my old OEM Rivian 12V batteries. Here were the results:

Conclusions:
  • The installation went pretty smoothly. It took me just over 1.5 hours, and that includes grabbing tools and watching/pausing the video instructions along my install. I was going pretty slow to make sure I wasn't shorting anything.
  • The hardest part was getting a good grip and pulling out the old OEM batteries from that cramped space.
  • You will also need to sit on the front lip of the frunk with your legs in the frunk to more easily unbolt and remove/replace the batteries. Try not to bang your head against the frunk cover's metal latch 10 times....
  • If I'm reading my battery tester correctly, my old OEM Rivian 12V batteries seem to be in good health, despite them being 3.5 years old. I'd expect another year or 2 of life out of them. This is surprising to me since I've certainly been taxing them quite a bit by leaving Gear Guard persistently on (even when parked outside at home) and hence theoretically having higher cycling of the batteries, and they are subjected to some hot summers here in Alabama. Guess I lucked out compared to some other Rivian owners with bad OEM batteries.
Thanks for a.detailed.review. did have to buy adapters for battery terminals separately or they came with the battery?

The adapters came with the Ohmmu batteries already installed. It's a drop-in replacement.

I just ordered these along with the 12V battery monitor ohmmu recommends.

I used the discount code “GET5” to get 5% off everything.

I’m pissed off that Rivian wants to charge me $825 to replace my 12v batteries, especially since others are paying $510 to have both replaced.

Good for you - I've had my 12V battery (August 23) replaced twice by Rivian - the first was proactive and the second was after I had faults. If I get the 12V warning again AND it's outside the Rivian coverage (which my SC guide said was two years), I'll definitely be getting the NA battery from Ohmmu (with their Bluetooth monitor).

Rivian bought ABetterRoutePlanner...If only they had purchased Ohmmu instead...

Great! No errors, no issues. Works just like OEM batteries.

Then again, it's only been 6 weeks since I installed them.
Hi, I’m getting my Ohmmu batteries later this week. And planning on installing them this weekend. Quick question, when you’re about to remove the old 12V batteries, did you have to first put the car in any special state?

Thanks!

No, you just follow the YouTube video and Rivian recommends you remove the HV cut off before you replace the 12v. Then you put it back by plugging in HV cut off. Then the battery negative terminal, and the sensor.

Nope. I just followed the instructions in Ohmmu's video to the T.

I also didn't touch the high voltage cut off.

By following their videos instructions, I didn't end up with any lasting errors. I had no need to bring it to a Rivian service center for them to reset anything. I also didn't need to go into the RIDE system. All I needed to do to reset errors after doing the battery swap was a hard reset of the car, just as instructed in the Ohmmu video.

Looks like I may be headed toward purchasing too. Got the 12V warning this morning when I got in to head to work. I did a full reset after my commute and it cleared it. I generally commute in the Tesla and currently only have one L2 charger so the MY stays plugged in most of the time. I checked my Rivianroamer account and my Phantom Drain has seriously spiked the last week. Thinking this is the HV system making up for a bad 12V. Not sure if cabin overhead shows in the Phantom Drain but has been seriously hot lately and just turned it on about the time the peak starts also.

Those of you who have gotten the warning to replace, did it happen after you installed latest OTA?
It looks like my drain increase did start soon after the update and I had not done a reset since the update either until today. Newbie mistake?

No. It might just be caused by the new software as some suspect. But not certain. I’m scheduled to install it tonight. 12V was just replaced by SC few months ago.
