They seem ultra normal, and average. What’s weird?
They inconsistent, especially when merging into traffic or changing lanes. Though they generally work, I have many occasions when they do not cancel out, and when I try and just tap them off, they just start blinking in the other direction. Happens enough to be annoying.

Smug feelings of superiority.
I literally mentioned this, week one of owning the R1S to my cousin, who had recently purchased an VW ID.Buzz van. "I already knew I was better than everyone else, but it really is so much more obvious driving this thing around" 😂

The one thing I still can master is the turn signal. I overcorrect almost every time trying to turn off the blinker and then it goes to the opposite blinker. Wish it utilized the convention 3 position functionality like most cars. I must look drunk half the time with my left right left right indications 🤦‍♂️
For the longest time, I didnt realize it auto-shuts-off after lane change when on freeways (maybe a setting you can toggle, even?) and I would half-click it back to turn it off, which would activate it the other way. It can be very frustrating.

Going back to ICE vehicles and attempting to put them in park using the cruise or wiper controls on the right hand steering column stalk! I almost had a rental roll down a driveway in a parking garage when I came to stop, hit the cruise control button, opened the door and started to step out.

I just get out of ICE cars now and forget to turn them off. Luckily I haven't forgotten to park them, since very often, I simply get out of the Rivian and let it auto-park.

Sometimes they don't turn off on their own once you've switched lanes. You try and turn it off by tapping it half-way in the other direction and it's starts blinking in the other direction instead. Drives me nuts.

The turn signals if switched totally on will only automatically turn off if you’re on the highway. On the main road, you lightly tap it like most other cars and you get three or four signals and then it shuts off.

I didn’t know they were supposed to have that feature. I just use the three-blink feature like every other car.

I do the same. It just simplifies the whole thing.

Rivian should enable the ‘auto signal off’ on all roads. I believe Tesla does this.

I'm going try that, let it blink 3 or 4 times in the wrong direction and see if it turns off on its own. It's still not ideal because it's blinking 3 or 4 times in the wrong direction after trying to turn it off.

Most other cars sense the wheel has turned slightly to switch lanes, then when the wheel is straightened out, it mechanically turns off the blinker. The Rivian seems to be electronic and doesn't always sense when the wheel has been straightened out after switching lanes and deactivate the blinker

I have never seen a vehicle meet the turn threshold to cancel the turn signal on a lane change.

But in a regular car, if it doesn't automatically turn off, you can simply half-tap it in the opposite direction and it will turn off. On the Rivian, you half-tap it on the opposite direction and it will start blinking in the opposite direction

If you full tap it, a half tap in the opposite direction will cancel it as well, without more blinks.

Maybe on your Rivian it does, but it doesn't on my R1T or R1S. Or on others posters who have chimed in on this thread
