According the Tesla SC map for NACS Partners it shows a station in Big Bear and a station in Arrow Head.

I haven't been up there this past season but we usually go once or twice a year. The last time I charged at the Highlands SC and that covered us up and down.

Yes it hasn't gotten much better but there are eight L2 Chargepoints in the public lot off Knickerbocker/Pennsylvania in the village. $.25/kwh

The 50kw Loop in the bank across from Get that Burger might still be down. A bunch of my friends up there all got EVs and everyone is running 240v for level 2.
I used the Level 3 DCFC 75 kW charger by Loop in April 2025 - worked well while having Get The Burger for lunch.

The trip was total 185 miles from Temecula up to around north of Big Bear Lake and back down Temecula, used 93 kWh.

I filtered to SC with NACS partners, which Rivian is.

Are you sure about that still? Perhaps they've updated the terminals to V3/V4?

Nice! looks like you went west through Holcomb Valley. That Loop station is hidden so I bet it doesn't get used as heavy.

The Tesla station still show Incompatible on the Rivian app.

There are a few L2s, yes but those are only useful if you're going to be parked for a while. Maybe overnight at a hotel. Even if you're at the Village area having food/drinks, a couple of hours only nets you maybe 30 miles.

Confirmed those do not work for Rivians.

There are several level 2 chargers at the Hilton in Big Bear now.
Do you have to pay for hotel parking?

I believe so but half the time I was there the gate was open.
If someone is going skiing it might be worth paying for parking.
For Big Bear you just need to charge at the bottom of the hill before getting there and you should be able to stay up there at least a week without charging. For getting down the hill to a DC charger you only need 15% battery.

I was lucky to get there with two spots open, so I tried with my NACS adapter. It did NOT work. Tried on two chargers. Stuck in "Starting" message and never changed.
I ran into something similar on a recent roadtrip in the southwest. I was stuck on “Starting” at a SC using Rivian NACS adapter. I was only able to initiate charging eventually by using the Tesla app, but couldn’t get plug and charge to work at that SC.

I’d be curious to see if charging could be initiated via the Tesla app. Probably not but worth a try.

Saw another R1S oncoming yesterday while we were coming back from Holcomb Valley. Looks like some rock sliders on there maybe.

I did try, but I don't know if I tried "correctly". I opened the Telsa app but that station doesn't show up at all when you have a non-Tesla loaded as your vehicle.

If I deleted it, then it shows up but then there's no way to initiate a charge.

It's a small Tesla station and in high demand by Teslas. I'm not surprised it isn't open to everyone.
