How do you get in your car then? The door handles get just as dirty as the hidden frunk button ...
Have you used a car? If you don't know difference between front and side and why front gets dirty, I don't want to spend time explaining.

There is a reason why windshield has wipers, but the side windows don't.

Seriously dude?

I get that you probably have OCD and have some irrational fear of dirt, but no one is going to blame you for that. However you must by now recognize that that is not normal, and lashing out at someone who posts a reasonable comment, rather than accepting your limitations, isn't helping you.

The front button does not get dirty. It is HIDDEN, as I mentioned. And although the flat front gets all sorts of bug guts on it when driving through buggy areas of the country, the frunk button stays clean. Have you ever used it? I have, and I have used it all the time over the past 3.5 years I've owned my R1T. I take this vehicle camping all the time, and I have spent many hours removing the bug guts (I highly recommend https://www.griotsgarage.com/bug-smudge-remover), but the button has never been a problem, and has never been dirtier than the door handles.

Here's what the front of my R1T looks like right now, from a low angle. Where is the button? It isn't exposed like much of the front is. In fact most people complain that they can't find the button when they need it - it's decidedly NOT in an exposed location.

Before you think you are the perfect blend of clean and dirty, and argue about it, consider this. Almost, if not every hatch I have seen has this for the exact purpose.

It's wet and dirty half the year.

I've owned an R1 for nearly 4 years now and have used the frunk button to open or close the frunk more than key, app, and main display combined.

My hands must be a veritable petri dish.

Wow, had no idea someone wouldn't want to touch a dirty button on the front of a car. I need to move up in this world, ha! The rear hatch button on my current vehicle is dirty all the time, It's just a small area of my finger tip that I can easily wipe to my thumb and its gone. Never crossed my mind that there are people who would turn their nose up to such thing. The more you know I guess.
front can be a different kind of dirty though. I just did a long roadtrip that completed last night and now the front of the car is plastered in insects. I agree that right now I don’t want to touch it

You can even have Alexa open the trunk for you as you're getting out of the car, then it will be fully open by the time you get around to the front. Or ask Alexa to close the trunk after you get in and are fastening your seat belt.
what do you say to get it open it? It keeps saying it doesn’t understand. Most Alexa commands don’t work for me.. Gen 1

No different than touching a dirty door handle to enter ( though the back does accumulate more grit). We all gassed up our ice vehicles back in the day. While I use the infotainment buttons on the screen when I’m exiting the car I want the external buttons for when I’m parked in the driveway and need to get into the frunk or tailgate. Yes I can use the app on my phone but that is less convenient in my opinion

"Alexa, open the trunk". I have a Gen 1 R1T.

Rivian has done a poor job of integrating Alexa. The integration hasn't improved at all in the 3.5 years I've owned my R1T, and they have even dropped some functionality that I used to use (e.g. timers, as in "Alexa remind me in 10 minutes that I need to call xxxx'). Alexa should be able to do everything that can be done from the touch screen, but Rivian has only implemented a fraction of that.

However, the things that can be done by Alexa make me appreciate the utility and convenience of a voice assistant. There are a few things I use it for regularly. Like the trunk, the charger port, the cameras (when parking), the overhead lights, playing music, etc. I hope Rivian does a better job with the Rivian Assistant and allows it to control everything.

Nice! I hadn't tried that one. I know some things don't like being "opened or closed" by voice assistant. I haven't messed with it in a while but I know my Google in the house refuses to open or close my garage door because of "security". I guess that's to stop someone from breaking in your window and yelling in "Hey google, open the garage door", LOL. 😆
I like to get my hands dirty so, I'll feel around for the button. :)

I don’t mind touching the buttons on the frunk and hatch of the R1 since it was one small surface area and you could also use the fob if it was really dirty. Bugs plastered on the hood is a whole different story, especially since you need like a whole palm and force and longer duration and smearing. lol! That earlier R2 strap idea would have been nice to release and pull the frunk down, and if it was a kind of bungee/elastic then it would retract after it catches/closes and you get it go. It is going to get some getting used since I always use the frunk.

I foresee Dynamic Glass roof down the road as an extra option.
