Will Gen1 R1's ever get text ability?

As a 2023 Gen 1 R1S owner I've just got to say
1. Best car I've ever owned. I'm 74
2. I appreciate every update I receive.
a. What other car company has updated software more than Rivian?
3. 37,290 miles - 2 gals windshield washer and one set of tires.
4. 1800 mile road trip to Nova Soctia - No issues just perfect

What are the chances that we will get text ability? I won't complain if we don't. I get it. I'll just be sad.

I believe the Rivian Assistant will be rolling out to Gen 1 later this year. In the meantime, Siri does a good job.

Speaking of- When are we getting the AI assistant/text for Gen2? I can’t deal with Alexa, not worth trying.

"Early 2026" was the word RJ put out late in 2025. We are close to missing that description. But it sounds like it is coming. At this point I would be surprised if it became available prior to the first production R2s hitting the street as the Rivian Assistant (including texting) should be part of R2 marketing.

Agreed, that’s how I’ve been feeling as well.

My guess is that Rivian assistant will come with the new UI, which has now been stated for late 2026 for R1 vehicles. I'd love to be proved wrong and get the assistant before then.

Rivian said AI and texting would be released in the first quarter of 2026. March is here and is almost gone, and no update yet. So my guess is April will be when AI and text will be released to the public. But who really knows. I am waiting for text messaging! Cars from 2018 had it built it, but a tech car company doesn't have text messaging is sad.

There have been some people who have had a crack in the reservoir. You should check on that.

How do you make your washer fluid? I've owned my 23 R1T since November and haven't added any fluid yet, but what is in the tank smells great.

Rivian just needs to make a simple update to increase the MPS (Miles Per Squirt) across their fleet of vehicles.
