I am curious as to what Rivian‘s position is to the inevitable future of sodium ion batteries. Half the cost, 3 to 4 times the longevity, higher density, no thermal runaway, and incredibly higher temperature range while keeping over 80% of his power.

Sodium ion is primarily designed for storage applications.

You got some specs wrong. As @emoore mentioned, sodium-ion batteries are less energy dense. This means that of two batteries with a given Wh rating, the sodium battery will be larger and heavier.

As I understand it. The specs we see in the press releases are a bit aspirational. So the OP probably did see all those advantages claimed. But last I heard, everyone's except CATL's were bigger and heavier.
I doubt we will see anything from Rivian till they have a supplier under contract and some prototypes built.
It is not like lithium batteries will not also be improving with time.
Good news is that new EVs that are cheaper than ICE vehicles sitting on the dealer lots are coming.

They are excellent for the 12v part, and are available for some EVs. Check out Ohmmu.

Sounds like an investment opportunity to me!
Just about every single day there are press releases and articles claiming a new battery break through or tech. Most not independently verified. And most from nations with no reporting or regulatory standards—and can say whatever they want. Very easy to be swindled. Readers should look deeper, past the headlines and even body copy.

Solid state is where things are headed in the EV space. But it's long ways to being common (2030 and beyond). It's only in the proof-of-concept stage right now with many unsolved mass production challenges—both technical and financial. In the interim, there are multiple concepts competing to bridge the gap; like silicon anode, LFP/NMC hybrid cells and semi-solid-state.

sodium ion technology will revolutionize grid electrical power storage. However, CATL, the world‘s largest battery manufacturer is producing sodium ion-cells for EVs that are far superior to lithium ion cells currently used in electric vehicles.

That is no longer the case. We are in the midst of a battery revolution. Check out CATL specs on their sodium ion battery.

And next no chance of it making its way into cars bound for the US, if you don't know where CATL is based. And it will take a long time for them or anyone else to set up production outside of China.

South Korea with LG is currently setting up a huge battery factory in the US. Oh wait a minute, that’s not working out so well is it. hopefully these policies change, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yup. No chance for many years.
