Hi All,

I'm new here but I've seen threads like this before and they can be fun.

My last car was a '19 Jaguar IPace First Edition. It was my first electric vehicle and it really did a great job. I put about 35k miles on it over 3.5 years. It stranded me once due to a wiring harness issue that became a common replacement and I had another wiring harness go out on on the front motor more recently.

I've had my R1S for a bit over a week now and it's interesting to compare the 2. The IPace drove much more like a GT car that could really weave through city traffic. The Range Rover air suspension made it super comfortable over bumps and it was very solid on the highway. The infotainment system was the earlier system and it was hot garbage - but it did have CarPlay and XM Radio which made it acceptable. The back seats were a bit tighter and the frunk was nearly useless. Fit and finish was pretty much perfect from the start. Mine had the 22" wheels and the ride was still great.

Overall I'm really enjoying the R1S and I'm hopeful that with some more software updates it will really come together.

What did you all have for your last daily driver and how did it stack up?

07 Chevy Colorado. After nearly 15 years and 241,000 miles it was time for a new truck. Going to a Rivian was like "night & day". Old Chevy still looked pretty good though, and I do miss the bigger bed. And of course Android Auto & satellite radio. Hopefully it's doing well for its new owners. 🙂

We have has Opal (our R1T) since April of this year. We driver her everywhere we can. We used to drive our 1956 Ford Thunderbird on most local errands. We also have a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax that we use to tow our Airstream Travel Traier. As a matter of fact, we are currently on an Airtream Adventure in Vermont with the Duramax. We plan on keeping all the guys. They will all have their place in our fleet. You can kind of see all of the guys in this one picture.

RAM 1500 Limited. More luxurious and more comfortable than the R1T. Better utility also. I added a great manual tonneau cover. R1T is nice enough and of course performs much better. I found that I can live with less utility, I find that the frunk and gear tunnel have advantages that close the gap. Overall, I just didn't want to drive a large vehicle all the time, the R1T strikes the perfect balance for me.

Hey OP, I wanted an iPace but ended up with an XF Sportbrake first edition. I love wagons but it just wasn't big enough for hauling around the car engines and other nasty stuff.

My DD was a MINI Cooper SE (BEV) and it was fantastic...easily the best car I've owned save for range, but it was mainly a city car for me. Average around 4-4.2 mi/kWh in good weather, nimble, light (for an EV at 3150 lbs), and quicker than folks expected. I also had an off-road built 4Runner that's been all over Colorado in the dirt as well as cross country on road trips including towing a Miata to Laguna Seca at one point. The R1T has done a great job replacing both vehicles so far.

2017 Tacoma TRD Pro for me. I bought it because of the reputation for reliability and the resale value. Both of those turned out to be true and after driving it for 4 years, Rivian offered me $2k less than I paid for it originally.

I loved that truck, but when I compare the interior and creature comforts to my R1T, it seems like I was driving the Flintstones car for 4 years. The Tacoma is also slow as dog$hit so having something this quick is just surreal.

My old daily is my wife's current daily. A '21 Audi SQ5 Sportback prestige. I liked it, the interior seats and seating surfaces are nicer than Rivians because they are real leather but the tech isn't as nice and even though its an S car its sloooow compared to my Rivian.

I do quite like the color though but I'm looking forward to my wife getting her i4 M50 we ordered. Not only did we get a custom color that's going to look amazing but I miss one pedal driving and instant acceleration and the corresponding smoothness that comes with it every time we take the Audi instead of my truck.

Ford Raptors since 2014 - 2 of them. I miss the size a bit, mainly the back seat area for my dogs and the range that the 36 gallon fuel tank gave me. Otherwise I'm really enjoying and getting used to my R1T.

Biggest want was more space. For around town it was fine. Road trips, camping, were a pain with SWMBO and two kids.

I had a Jeep Gladiator but started to see the advantages of EVs and the ridiculous horsepower #s, so I plopped down the $1000 reservation.

Then around the price increase in match 2022, I snagged a Mach E that I traded the Jeep for. The Mach E GT was a great car, but I did miss having a truck so was glad when the R1T arrived 6 months earlier than anticipated.

2016 Audi TTS, Daytona Grey. Fun car. Loved the look and the clean interior design. Surprisingly good utility with rear seats folded down given hatch and nice to have a little rarity. Ride is a bit rough even with suspension in comfort mode on rougher surfaces (like the 1.5 mile gravel road to our house). R1T is much faster, more comfortable, better utility (particularly carrying mountain bikes) and also has a great clean design inside and out.

My R1T replaced my 2018 Volvo V60 Polestar (Engineered). I would have loved to keep both, but finances dictated the outcome. Fast, fun (cornered really well for a heavy hatch), more economical than you'd think, and reliable.

That said, she chewed through brakes and tires like it was her job. Burned through the first set of Michelin Pilot SuperSports in less than 12,000 miles. The second set lasted about 17k, and then I switched to Continental DSWs. For Winter, I had a set of 19" wheels originally outfitted with Pirelli SottoZero 3s. Burned through those in 2 winters and swapped for Hakkapeliitta R5s (those are amazing, by the way).

I had also figured out a better aftermarket brake pad that lasted longer than the OEM Brembos (I got just over 24k out of those). Both made Sinara less capable on the track, but this was my Daily Driver, so I needed the reliability moreso, and she was still 90% capable.
