This is my biggest beef with the bed… nearly impossible to get up into without using a gear tunnel door. And I’m 6’4”! They really should have integrated some sort of step into the rear bumper.

It's not integrated but this is what I have. I also go in and out of my bed a lot. I agree jamming my knee up there to get in is literally a pain.

I saw this product while googling. A bit pricey. I wonder how well it secures to the tailgate? If that's just two screws into plastic, that's a hard no from me.

Very interesting. They say it mounts to the internal structure of the tailgate.

That step is pretty cool, but it is expensive for what you get. I go in and out of the bed often. I just sit up on the edge of the tailgate and swing my legs around. I also use the step on the receiver and swing my leg over the tailgate. It's nice to be able to drop the tailgate from the inside of the bed.

In sport mode I can just high step on the gate and get in. Not something I expect too many people can do. It took me a few years of rock climbing to high step that tall. It would be much easier with the folding gate tho.

This was one of my favorite features from the "production intent" vehicle at the LA Auto Show and it killed me when they pulled it.

There was another post on this forum about a recent patent filing showing it in operation which lead to speculation Rivian may eventually add it to a production vehicle but I'm thinking it isn't happening any time soon.

The Ridgeline two-way gate was so bomb. I wish Rivian implemented that design.

I have Ridgeline and LOVE the dual tailgate opening options. I was SO disappointed when R1T did not have drop down feature. They need to redesign it. Maybe Rivian execs should be forced to do daily removal of spare tire to give them incentive.
