If you go to the R1T page on Range Industries, there is a folding tailgate step they advertise. Though I think it requires putting screws into the plastic.

I had my tailgate plastics off to investigate mounting a wheel directly on the gate and I decided not to bother trying for now. Didn't seem to be a great way to do it, but figured I can still share the photo here since it's somewhat relevant.

I just added this. A little wobbly but gets the job done.

Hi! It's a valid concern, especially for those who frequently use their truck bed. Some models of the Rivian R1T have been equipped with a fold-out step that is built into the rear bumper. This step can be easily accessed by opening the tailgate and pulling it out. It provides a secure footing for people to step on while they load and unload cargo from the bed. Additionally, the truck comes with a power tonneau cover that can be used to secure items in the bed, and it can also be used as a work surface.
