I don't know if it's just our R2, but we tested trying to stop it by hand before it reaches the full height and it just keeps going. maybe if I put both hands on it and hang on it? but a simple tug will NOT stop it from opening. I was testing it to see if it will be in danger of getting damaged if my wife opens it by mistake for now in the garage. and yes, it definitely will be a problem. I'm almost tempted to have her leave the car parked outdoors until this is addressed. All it takes is one phone call, talking to a friend, press button to lift gate - oh crap...

yes, that totally works. but you know how it will be if that scenarioI described happens to my wife. her first instinct will not be, calmly put the things in her hand down and press button. Instead it will be a frantic effort of trying to stop it, then trying to get to button but missing it until 'crunch' there goes the tail gate.

Haha in all honesty, I have a feeling I could easily do the same mistake, months down the line, completely forgetting, doing multiple things at one and once I see it going up and realize the emergency, panic and fail to stop it.

Noodle attached to the ceiling. I actually got some garage wall guards, foam pads you stick to the garage wall for doors slamming open. I got a pack of 5 for $19. I’m putting one one the garage door for now until the OTA fix.
