Wouldn’t it be funny if they gave it the same feature parity of R2… backwards! Is there anything functionally different? Or is it just a cosmetic reskin effectively?
This is my question. There are so many things the R1 has that R2 lacks right now. Please don't take features away. My system is good and stable for now please don't destroy it.Wouldn’t it be funny if they gave it the same feature parity of R2… backwards!
Honestly wouldn’t shock me..
I mean I’m all for a refresh, but Rivian doesn’t have the best history of doing big things without breaking some eggs. In a world where a lot of R1s are nearly out of warranty (or already out of warranty) we’re about to see how Rivian handles issues when it’s their updates that break something. And the always-glass-half-empty folks are already moaning about bugs they don't yet have.

Sell the car. Buy one that never gets updates unless forced by NHTSA to issue recalls.I mean I’m all for a refresh, but Rivian doesn’t have the best history of doing big things without breaking some eggs. Yeah. And even if they manage to get all the existing features in, I want to be optimistic about this, but...given that every update to the existing system inevitably introduces new bugs on things that worked perfectly fine previously, I'm kinda nervous.Wouldn’t it be funny if they gave it the same feature parity of R2… backwards!
Literally every update has introduced a new bug for me. Every single one. Things that should just work, that had worked fine forever, suddenly misbehave. So excuse us if we're a bit jaded and have some skepticism about updates. It's entirely justified. And the always-glass-half-empty folks are already moaning about bugs they don't yet have.
Turn off auto updates? I haven't had any issues with my R2 infotainment besides just not having the same feature set. I imagine they've done more work towards that for this update, since they got it quite a bit closer in the previous R2 update. This is my question. It’s really hard to not update because we’ve got bugs that need to be fixed. So the choice is either disable updates and live with the bugs that exist or update selectively when fixes for issues are released and then experience new issues (for clarity’s sake - I personally do not have automatic updates enabled, but were presented with a bulletin constantly when we don’t update). Kind of a no choice choice. 🫠Turn off auto updates? I haven't had any issues with my R2 infotainment besides just not having the same feature set.
