Had one problem a few weeks after taking delivery. Was in the shop for a while since it was the early days and not many service locations. Not a single problem for almost 3 years after that.

R1. Not good. My lingering issues are almost all related to the overcomplicated suspension. I hope, like Tesla's path from S/X -> 3/Y, that the simpler R2 will be more reliable for people.

Traded a flood damaged Audi for my brand new Rivian under the premise that EV's are less maintenance. I should have lemon lawed the truck, it's been awful and soured me on the brand. 110% regret the purchase (lease, but still).

Does "reliable" mean it can be relied on to get you to your destination 100% of the time or are we including all the NVH quirks?

I trust mine on a road trip to anywhere (2nd one) but the rattles and wind noise can be annoying chasing down.

My R1T is about to turn four years old, VIN under 10,000. I have had zero "stranded me somewhere" or "required multiple days of repair" issues. I have had some of the "minor early growing pains" issues. Multiple early recalls - all were simple and quick to get done (some were just "drive through a pop-up drive-through check station and get inspected in a couple minutes.")

There have been a few annoying software issues, but they've all been fixed by the next software update. (The most annoying of them just started with 2026.15, and was just fixed in 2026.23, but apparently my issue was rare.)

Similar boat, but just the one rattle that only happens in the summer.

Nothing major after that - only time's I've had to take it to a service center and not rely on Mobile service has been for recall work. And the Mobile Service appointments were to try and chase down that rattle, a 12v battery replacement, or for a scheduled inspection.

Been great otherwise (I selected "Good", but my thinking is really "Great - just NVH stuff"!

R1T 22k vin with 25k miles. I have not been stranded but had the front L&R dampers, hydraulic lines and flex washers replaced after air valve failure at 22Kmiles. Mobile service came and replaced batteries twice now while i was at work. I will be extending the warranty as i love this dumb truck more than i care to admit. Voted "Good" as Rivian has taken care of me quickly each time.

OK to Great
Two somewhat serious issues that were handled quickly and fixed under warranty
Maybe 5 other trips to service for small stuff
Could it be better - yes
Could it be worse - most definitely
Compared to previous vehicles it is the best I’ve owned
3 years and 8 months of ownership
Going to hit 65,000 miles sometime this week

2 years. 16k miles. Zero issues. Tires at 50% tread (21 inch pirellis). 12 v battery replaced by mobile service routinely.
Mostly around town but one long round trip through death valley, tucson to central coast cal. 100% confidence in this gen 1 R1t.

same! I swear it's behind the drivers AC vent and only hear it in summer. Might be behind the doors. I'm going to try the TSB next SC visit.

I would say the same thing if it was an option - "Great. Just NVH"

Have had my 2025 R1T towed to a SC ninety miles away three times in the last nine months: 1)12V battery, 2)short in air compressor, 3)truck completely bricked with HVDB having to be replaced and new 12V installed. Love the truck, but will have to think about path forward when lease is up.

Mine feels more like it's behind the drivers display, but that's close enough to the same area...

Vin 164xx, 4 years, 60,000 miles, one design issue where engineers were not familiar with humidity and heat in the south. AC pan drain not large enough, and replaced that and molded carpet immediately when problem emerged.

This week the hood stopped closing properly, thinking it senses something blocking it and reopens. I have to practically sit on it for 5 seconds to get it to stay closed. Anyone else seeing this?

No but, check out your pinch sensors along the edge of the hood. Sometimes those become misaligned and pinch themselves, causing the symptoms you are seeing.
