I was thinking the same. My 2022 Model Y with 45,000 miles has about an 87.5% battery capacity.Sleeping giant in the room is the seemingly crazy newer Model 3/Y battery degradation issues. Kyle said he has content on this coming soon. Here’s my 2024 M3P with 13,000 miles on a road trip a month ago. Best efficiency and furthest I ever got. Doing the math with 62.6 kWh and 89% of the battery used you get an implied roughly 70kWh available pack capacity. My battery test shows I’m at 92-93% full health already. That means full pack was about 75-77kWh new, which makes sense. So even with this really good road trip run at 4.25 mi per kWh efficiency, due to the battery degradation my 0-100% range is under 300 miles. Mind you this wasn’t a straight 266 miles at 80mph either. This was at best averaging 70mph. So in reality R2 could end up being very similar to Model 3/Y in effective range just one year after you purchased it due to these crazy early degradation issues. Not even talking about how much better R2 charging performance is.

To be fair, his test was performed without any comparative data. At least with OoS, they had the Model Y Performance there at the same time for comparison testing. So, I think it's a more valid test, IMHO.

Yesh but I personally don't care at all about Model Y. I care about how far R2 goes. So this information does matter for R2 range, and trying to link this test up with Tom's on 20" AT.To be fair, his test was performed without any comparative data. All you're saying with the Tesla there is that it's more efficient. The Rivian would of come closer to it's EPA range without the A/C working so hard and the Tesla would of done even better too if the ambient temps were not so extreme.To be fair, his test was performed without any comparative data. Point taken. As someone coming from a Model Y, and as someone who heard RJ say that it would match MY efficiency, it's disappointing. That's just my take.

Agreed, but it makes me feel a little better personally as keeping AC at 68 degrees auto when its 98 degrees outside is insane. So the OOO 70mph range test jives better with Tom's test knowing these variables and the wheel differences. 250 vs 275 miles is a huge difference in real world life.
