I called the service line listed in the app 888.748.4261
I suppose that they could have changed their policies. Best of luck with your request.
Well, I called back in March but I'll call again and refer to your recent success. Thanks for the heads-up.

Sorry, but even after you purchase a pre-owned Rivian they will not give you the prior service history, but they will answer questions about previous repairs.
This is not correct, at least not all the time. I sent them a message via the app last week asking for prior service records and they sent me all the service records with the previous owners info redacted. 🤷

No worries! Might be service center specific? The work is from the same center I still take it too. Surprised to see the amount of stuff that's been done before 😬

Well like I mentioned, they won't send you the service history but they will answer specific questions about it if you call. I called and asked them if my pre-owned 2022 R1T that I bought after I totalled my 2023 R1S had ever had both 12V batteries replaced (yes) or had any suspension or other major repairs (no); however, a month later when I had a mobile service call to replace my tailgate trim piece that came off, the service technician looked up the service history for me and told me that the HV battery pack and control module was replaced back when the 12V batteries were replaced too, so I guess you have to ask them very specific questions when you call.
So this is a game of 20 (500) questions or in reality, asking infinite questions that we don’t know to ask. There is no way for new owners to know all the potential parts that need to be replaced or could have already been replaced. Unless there are actual recalls through NHTSA, the practice of manufacture’s voluntary upgrade “campaigns” where work done or not done doesn’t appear in publicly available national vehicle recall databases, again means the knowledge power rests with the reclusive/proprietary manufacturer domains. All the power rests with Rivian and as power wants to do, it protects itself from letting others gain the upper hand or even attain a little bit of that power. Thankfully we owners have each other and share our experiences. This makes it all the more important for us to provide full and as complete information about our own repair and service procedures interactions as possible so we can expand the owner experience knowledge base.

Another approach is to bring the truck to a quality shop that conducts pre-purchase inspections. I did this with the first used R1T I hoped to buy. They used a device that measures the thickness of paint layers and could tell there were additional coats of paint on the passenger door and quarter panel that would have resulted from an impact that dented the passenger running board. The paint density check showed the damage wasn’t limited to the running board. This was the only spot on the whole truck that didn’t match other location with the exception of both gear tunnel doors that show equal thicker layers of paint. The inspector suspected the gear tunnel doors received extra paint at the factory since they are exposed to more potential impacts since they flare out from the body.

Personally, I'm not as interested in body work as much as suspension and/or control module work which only the SC can tell you.

Still, if the company calls it a campaign vs acknowledging a design or safety fault that results in a formal recall, consumers have to stumble upon the campaign through sharing information or messaging from the company rather than getting publicly available recall info about a specific VIN. It boils down to semantics and obfuscation.

Yes, but if they will send you the complete vehicle service history with previous owners' PII redacted, then it will show all campaign work as well.

I fall into the group of R1 owners of pre-owned Rivians who have asked but been denied information about previous service records, and been told, trust us, your vehicle isn’t subject to the company campaigns to install improved parts or recommended inspection and repair/replacement of said components covered by company internal campaigns. I’m also a twice-now return for obvious damage caused by Rivian repairs but ignored/overlooked and returned to me to let me discover the damage they caused, leading to more downtime for me as well as “stolen” warranty time when I don’t have my vehicle for personal use. Admit the mistake, repair the damage, and return to me whole, especially when it’s a component that was not part of the initial repair but was “in the way” and was damaged during removal or more likely reinstallation of a nearby part.

Sorry to hear that.

Exactly who denied you he previous service records? According to some replies above calling the main number seems to have gotten some success although that was not the case when I originally called, but I plan to try one more time given the posts above.

Also, are you talking about the Dulles, Gaithersburg, or Richmond SC where you had these bad experiences?

Records denied when I called the main central service number. Sterling SC is the location where additional damage was done while servicing my truck. Richmond has been great though it’s a lot further than the 20 minute drive from my house to the Sterling SC. I haven’t tried MD SCs yet.

Well, today Rivian Support called me for like the 3rd time to schedule the toe link recall work for my 2023 R1S which for the 3rd time I told them that I had totalled it back in March and no longer owned, so once again please take it off the list! So, when she asked me if there was anything else she could help me with, I said well as a matter of fact, would you please send me the complete redacted service history for the previous owner of my 2022 R1T which I bought back in March but was denied when I called back in March but I referenced the several approved requests reported here.

She said she would forward my request to the Service Team because it wasn't up to her.

Well, less than an hour later I received an email with all 3 of the previous owner's redacted service reports!

So you may want to try again!
