That’s what I would have thought but I will have the 20” tires and Kyle’s test would seem to indicate 2.2 MPK at 80 mph with the 21” tires. I suspect the 20” would be closer to 2.0 MPK in this same test.

I currently lease a BMWIX50 that generally does the trip using 2.6 MPK…at about 70 mph. I’m afraid the R2 will be less efficient with an 18% smaller battery than my IX. If the R2 could approach even 2.8 MPK at 70mph I would be golden…just not sure it’s possible if the more aerodynamic IX50 can’t get this type of efficiency.

My order timeframe is Aug/Sept; this is the only barrier I have to purchasing an R2. Like the car otherwise.

80mph kills R2 bc of the box. 70mph is no problem for R2. Kyle will have his 70mph range test video out tonight or tomorrow morning but I expect it to be around 275-280 miles at 70mph.

I’m curious to see what others are reporting.

My R2 is reporting 91.6 usable kWh using RivianRoamer.

When they did the walk around in the initial video, they did report that they put over 90 kWh into the battery when charging so there will probably be another video talking about that.

Here you go. While there are 62 R2s on RR, currently pack identification only happens of rRR+ members. Mostly due to the way Rivian exposes this requires historical data streams. I'm working on enabling this for free accounts but I suspect we won't see this move much.

This is inline with what is already happening for R1 today. My "140 kWh" capacity pack is at 143.3 kWh right now.

After deeper investigation the pivot point at which your 100% range starts to decrease on R2 is around 90 kWh capacity. This means on media the actual buffer is around 1.7 kWh.

I don't know why Rivian does this. The Gen 2 R1 Max Pack pivot is 141.5 kWh even though their communicated capacity is 140 kWh.

My best guess is that Kyle will end up with a BMW. He drives a lot and the iX3 is a better road tripper. R2 is awesome and great for most people though.
