Travel Kitchen or alternative?

I’m a day one reservation holder and it seems like I might be on track to receive an R2 in November. I’m wondering if the Travel Kitchen will fit in the R2. For the R1S it used the lift gate and anchored to it.

If not, anyone have a recommendation for a great electric/induction cooktop for road trips / national parks? I use it to avoid unhealthy eating when there aren’t great options around.

The stated reason for moving away from the original camp kitchen to the current version was cross-compatability between current and future models. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a perfect fit.

Camp kitchen is 52.95 inches long when unfolded so you will have to get pretty creative to use it in the rear of an R2. Of course it will fit no problem when folded.

Our Field Kitchen will fit in the rear cargo area of the R2. It's designed to be used on the optional folding table, on a picnic table (bench or table top) as well as the tail gate of the R1T. Our feedback from potential customers was that they'd rather not cook in the back of the vehicle itself, so we made it as flexible as possible. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

You don't want to be cooking anything on the tailgate of a SUV with the hatch open because all the smells will go straight into the cabin. Additionally, the inevitable spill will disappear below the subtrunk and who knows what damage it could cause.

I might recommend against having flat electrical outlets next to a cooking surface like that. You don't want for spills to run down into the electronics and potentially short-circuit anything. Maybe see if you can get one of those pop-up outlet modules that are used in conference-room tables all the time?

It's not a concern, ive done plenty of testing and camping with it and it's better than being by the sink area. Also has a built in surge anyway.

The pop up module is a good idea but the reason why I use this is for undersides cable management. It can be a one stop shop for connecting rather then just have a cooktop and an extension cord

I bought this...the hot plate area extends out well past the rear of the vehicle. Takes maybe 30 minutes to put together and is really solid.

That's an option for sure, the time and space it takes up for me is a no seller tbh haha. integrated is best

By put together I meant the initial building it out of the box. . Once in the vehicle it just slides out in 2 seconds. But yes, does take up a little space.

It's really one of the better designs I've seen and, quite frankly, I'm glad I hadn't see it when I was building my kit or I may have gone that way! Nice find!
