Please don't say things like this unless you have a source to back it up. People read that and take away that Rivian promised Pet Cam for next update. They didn't. The timeline for Pet Cam is still indefinite - all we know is that they intend to implement it.

You’re right. It’s separate from Pet Mode. I was conflating the two.

I'm sure most would prefer the privacy (at least based on all the threads where people whine about not wanting Rivian to have data) vs. 'camera always watching'.

this brings up a good question…

where are all the software/OTA updates tracked for each of the auto manufacturers?

I am new to the OTA Update realm of cars. None of mine have had this feature.

When I owned a Miata, the main forum for that car had all the service bulletins and recalls available at the forum. Furthermore, the Chevy Volt new owner website (I think it was) sent out notices on the reported progress of each Volt being made to expectant owners for their individual VINs.

so, this kind of per-VIN data (manufacturing, applicable service updates, applied updates, etc.), it’d seem to me, as well as the performance metrics on updates (e.g., how many OTAs issued by the respective manufacturers, any failure rates, how often issued, etc.) should be published individually and collectively.

and then for me,
1/ the metrics would be more instructive than just “maker/model is OTA-capable.” Prospective buyers could see how attentive different automakers are for their OTA-capable models and how well they OTA updating performs. And then for example, I could see that Rivian has a better track record in servicing their software than a competitor for all (or for a specific) model/year(s). and…
2/ the individual data would help me maintain the car/truck and keep it current, performing at its best.

Just because one maker updates every month and another once a year, that doesn’t make the more frequent updates “more attentive”, could just mean they have more to fix.

For Rivian, there are sites that track the OTA releases and publish the release notes and install estimates. For instance, https://riviantrackr.com/updates/

So, where are all the software/OTA updates tracked for each of the auto manufacturers?

We have two EVs, a Cadillac Optiq and a Nissan Ariya. The Ariya apparently went 2 or 3 years with no OTA updates at all, then it got two last year (enabling wireless CP/AA as I recall). There may have been others since but I don't pay close attention to the Ariya situation as it's not my daily driver.

For Cadillac EVs (Lyriq, Optiq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ), users are tracking which OTA updates have been seen in a spreadsheet on the Cadillac Owners Forum. Beyond the OTAs listed in that spreadsheet, Cadillac EVs get other updates directly from Google (Gemini magically arrived to my car last month), there are apps that get updates from the Play Store just like a phone, and there's a mysterious update that adds Apple Music, but it's not a formal OTA nor is it an app from the Play Store. It just somehow appears in the vehicle without notice (my car hasn't gotten it yet).

There's a lot of lag in updates, so an update some people get may not be received by others for 2-6 months.

Looking forward to getting off the legacy automaker update train. Cadillac is doing it better than some others, but it's still not being done well.
