Not sure why bad news for one EV company affects the others. Bad news for Stellantis does not mean bad news for Toyota.
Because the EV space is still relatively new with A LOT of people waiting (and hoping) to see it fail. Fisker going bankrupt did a number on the industry.

Why do you think we still hear about so and so company being the next Fisker? An EV company failing to the general public signals feasibility of the market failing as a whole. This is specially true here in America where FUD is rampant.

So yes, what happens with GMC does not affect Kia, but with every EV model that is cancelled, company going bankrupt or EV plans in general being pulled back - this is a hit on the market as a whole.

The EV segment is more mature than you give it credit for. Close to 6-8% of all new car sales and most companies have a good range of vehicles. As noted Polestar was a bit player with minuscule volume. This will have no impact on the segment.

Chinese espionage, industrial and military, is a fact of life.

Americans drive their cars -- regardless of where they're made -- onto military bases and into sensitive areas. That's one vulnerability of a free society.

A wise country will respond with clear-eyed analysis and strong regulations about data transfer, and about the capability for data transfer.

This has to be rational and consistent. It should not be swayed by any company's political positions or by any Administration official's personal considerations.

Our Rivians upload lots of data to the corporate "mothership." At present, we trust Rivian to use those data responsibly. I would have far less trust in a car made by a Chinese-owned corporation.

Best to all!
