I mean, argue all you want based on the tire rack specs. But the 3 peak logo does not appear on the tires.
You're right it's just M&S on the sidewall in the latest YouTube videos. My guess is for better range? Not an aggressive AT tire it seems.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Finally get to see Esker Silver!
Yeah, it looks really good. If I don’t win an R2 in an EV raffle this Summer then I’m going to lease an Esker Silver Premium or Standard next Spring/Summer. It’s a good default color.

Look really closely at Tire Rack for R2 size.
I’ve heard it’s better to go with the 20” wheels. Way more choice for replacement tires when the time comes.

That is true if you look for 255/55 R21 tires. There is only one on Tire Rack, and it is the Rivian replacement tire. But try searching for 255/50 R21. There are 16 XL tires in that size, so plenty to choose from.

The smaller sidewall will impact speedometer accuracy, but maybe Rivian will give us a way to change the tire size to a non-standard size in the Service menu.

You could also try 265/45 R21 XL - there are 36 options on Tire Rack. Of course the speedometer error will be even worse with that size.

Given how software-dependent Rivian's are, driving on a set of tires that cannot (or maybe will not) be officially calibrated by the R2 is a showstopper for me. Having the shorter sidewall cause range and speedometer inflation is bad enough, but if it is going to foul with ADAS etc... would make me nervous.

I had my R2 test drive yesterday with a Half Moon Grey model. The performance/handling is great, at least from the limited 25 mins of driving I was able to do. Halo wheels did take some getting used to, especially the click left/right and the push in/out. It will take some more practice with them to actuate those motions without also scrolling.

My questions (edit: answers are what the sales guide stated, take them for a grain of salt.) :
- Is there pet mode? A: Not at launch be will be coming with SW update.
- Drive Cam recording with USB? A: Not at launch but Gear Guard and drive cam *should* be coming with SW update.
- How does the rear seat emergency door release work? A: It was explained as being behind the cover due to the need to hide from children as the emergency release will activate with the child lock enabled so it provides a possibly higher level of safety than traditional rear doors with a child lock. Interesting. If I decide to buy R2 I'll definitely be adding a window break tool to the door pocket.
- Included charging accessories? A: None, mobile charger and adapters available for purchase.
- FM radio? A: Doesn't exist, streaming via iHeartRadio app or TuneIn app. These will require a connect+ subscription to work.
- Exterior state of charge indicator? A: R2 does not have the front and rear like R1. Only visual indication is the small light under the charge door which pulses while charging and is solid when charged. Phone app and dash display show more detailed info.

I believe Connect+ is not required for iHeartRadio and TuneIn. From what i read. Also, charging accessories are included depending on what state you live in. It's noted on the Rivian website when you look under the add on R2 accessories.

I've been told that iHeart will work WITHOUT Connect +. You can also avoid Connect + and use iHeart or TuneIn via a wifi tether to your phone.

According to the R2 manual, page 143. TuneIn will need Connect+ or Wi-Fi hotspot but it does not list iHeartRadio so it looks like IHR will be always available. Hopefully it will not require an account.

I'm in IL so no included accessories.

That looks to be the case according to manual pg 143. Presumably Rivian is subsidizing the streaming costs for that service, at least for now, so I guess they have figured that the cost to include radio hardware is more that streaming over the life of the vehicle. Kinda makes me think IHR might be subsidizing the service with ad revenue.

When I was at the Tyson's corner location, they said it had the front and rear charge indicator. Hm, might need to go confirm this. Hey! Those who has their R2 delivered already, can you clarify?

It does not have the visible light bars like the R1

Just wondering if, out of all these reviews, anybody has done an actual 0-60 and skidpad? All I see are "mfg est".

Redline reviews did an instrumented 0-60 at 3.8 seconds. This was on a surface street and not a prepped drag surface. Pretty sure it was with the 21" all seasons.
