Luckily Rivian is already better off than Fisker is.... errr, was.
And better at time of delivery launch. Fisker was already at brink of failure and had millions gone missing. Plus, Fisker had no production capacity of its own. Ocean was built in Austria by Magna-Steyr. If Fisker had survived, it would have lived to be clobbered by tariffs instead.

R4 PROTOTYPE SPOTTED IN THE WILD

Looks a little small for my tastes.

Speaking of Fisker, anyone been to NYC lately? Theres a ton of them running around as Ubers. Makes me wonder if guys bought them cheap at liquidation and drive them until they die.

Uber did not buy them. A company did, on the cheap.

Pretty clear that normal will handle R1 and maximize R2 production and pursue sales here and in Europe in the meantime while Georgia construction proceeds. It'll be interesting to see how timely it gets built as Scout may come to market in the meantime.

he also said service delays have been resolved "hours for critical service". meanwhile The Count sits here with an undrivable R1S and two more weeks waiting for mobile service. SAD!!

240+ hours is still an amount of hours. I'd expect The Count to understand.

And Fisker was run by a completely shady husband & wife duo, Rivian is not run like that.

I'd expect R3 to be offset from a mid-lifecycle refresh of R2. If R2 is a 2027 model that implies a late 2028/early 2029 launch date for R3 before the R2 refresh around 2030.

As for an R4, who knows? Rivian needs to get profitable with R2 or R3/R4 never happen and Rivian ends up like Fisker.
Considering investments from VW and Uber, it's looking very unlike Fishker, which had way more fundamental problems that simply lack of sales.

The problem seems to be that he's a Count that can't count.

That's quite fair. But many of the Rivian announcements are for PR value with little substance - how many autonomous vehicles is Rivian delivering to Uber this quarter? Next quarter?

No question VWAG needs software help, and they have a desperation deal in place with Rivian. Clever negotiating by RJ and the team, but the rubber hits the road when Rivian software ships on VW group vehicles - otherwise it's all one-time services revenue which provides non-dilutive capital and "progress" towards profitability but anyone worth their salt would reverse out for the purposes of evaluating Rivian's ongoing operations.

Rivian made a number of shrewd bets, including monetizing other IP like Also, while they could. Their marketing team and corp dev team deserves an A+. Now it's up to the non-EDV side of the business to prove there is a real future here. As a 2025 R1S owner, I'm hopeful. But cautious.
