2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor, 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range
Would it really? I think it would just draw from some Model Y sales. I can’t imagine a lot of people are on the fence about Tesla thinking “I’d love to buy a Model Y but only if it were 8” longer”
For people who want a crossover EV but need more passenger space than the Y can provide. Your options are pretty limited in that space if you want something somewhat reasonable. The Model X is expensive and dead. The R1S starts at $77,000. The Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 are ticking ICCU timebombs.

And bigger is better... right? Isn't that the motto of Americans? :CWL: If you give them something a little bit bigger for a little bit more money, they'll eat it up. SUPERSIZE ME!

I was thinking of getting one just for the extra trunk space and captains chair configuration, could care less about the third row. But I'm gunna go R2 instead.

Nah, it will barely make a dent IMO. Just another Model Y trim. They should have made a proper SUV if they cared about US sales.

Tesla doesn't really want to make cars anymore.
Tesla has a lot more rumored cars than you think they do. The issue is they know autonomy is not here and in the future, even if autonomy is here they will still make cars.

They are rumored to be working on a 4 seat variant of the cybercab platform. Model Y, Model Y L, cybertruck, model 3

If they build an SUV on cybertruck platform that looks normal they will have something for almost everyone

As for the refresh? Comical. A front and rear light bar don’t constitute a refresh.
If you actually drove the old model Y, the new one is a huge difference. Tesla has leapfrogged the competition in ride quality, interior cabin noise, and build quality whereas the previous model Y was really noisy and had a very harsh ride.

All of the only downsides over the competition (other than the model Y looking a little ugly) went away.

There are definitely people who find the ioniq 5 and ev6 to be ugly as well.

Glad if I'm wrong and they take the Cybertruck platform and make a big SUV, but I doubt it.
I bet they could transform the CT platform into something more people would buy. The mega cast thing for the body is probably the biggest barrier, but if they could modify it enough to build a big SUV, and then put nicer looking panels on it, and I bet it would be a big seller. For the right price, of course.

Huh? There’s no new models coming. A Cybercab is not a car. I can’t buy it. It’s for Tesla to make recurring revenue like Uber does, to do exactly what I said - phase out selling cars to people. Model Y L is just a 6” longer Model Y. It doesn’t count as another car. Cybertruck is dead. No one is buying them. It’s on the way out. I hope they pivot it into a CyberSUV.

For the record I should state I’m not a Tesla hater. I don’t grandstand on stupid political issues and Elon hate. Tesla just objectively does not care about making cars anymore. They currently HAVE TO but they aren’t innovating the personal car space anymore. It’s just a long held bread and butter division of the company they are beholden to for revenue until they can just sell robots and FSD cybercabs.

The writing is on the wall, it might not be today but it’s their future.

The cybercab will be for sale to consumers but the rumor is tesla is building a car off that platform. It is a 4 seater and manually drivable.

There's a lot of technology that goes into the cybercab platform that allows them to build cars using the unboxed method. Etherloop connection, front wheel drive, steer by wire, and the new fluidless braking system from brembo, paint injected body panels so there is no color matching of panels needed.

Motors are much larger and they supposedly have reduced rare earth magnets.

Cybercab platform is much cheaper. The part count of a cybercab is half of a model 3 and costs less than $20K to manufacture. Tesla can build a 4 seater somewhere around $20-25K U.S.

Tesla is also selling the model 3 premium in canada for $29K. Rivian wishes they could make cars this cheap.

Anyone can import cheap cars from China without tariffs and protectionism. Pretty simple really.
