Nope, I always have a tire plug kit in my vehicle. As long as the puncture is on the tread part of the tire it is a 15 minute fix. If it is a sidewall issue then it is a problem. I carry a Garmin inReach if I am in a remote area
Which plug kit do you have on board?

I am old school, just a T-handle style to push the plug through the puncture. You can get them at any auto supply store

Spare is like a safety thing, like a fire extinguisher.... when you need it, you need it!

“Hey guys, let’s brainstorm how we can nickel and dime out consumers for every last dollar!”

So the spare is a 20” after inflated that is able to be hid for $755.

So that telling me to go with the 20” rims for the extra $1000.

Safety items that have been standard for the past 100 years, yes crazy like BMW asking a monthly subscription for the heated seats they already installed?

Crazy how Tesla and other EV make it a prideful *psychological event “got to have that, and that, and that, Ching Ching, Ching, Ching Ching $$$.

*Almost like grown up version of that grappling hook machines trying to get the little ball for a dollar each time only to fail and put another dollar in over and over and over.

Oh, say all that to say, YES I will put my $2 in the machine to get the spare and 20” rims.

Definitely adding the spare. We spend a lot of time in remote areas with no cell service (though satellite is helping for that) and far away from any tire shops. My wife and daughter got a blowout in her Tesla (no spare offered) in an area like that and fortunately, a passerby called the police when they got cell service. Because it was a Tesla and it happened on a Sunday, it had to be flat bedded out and the cops had to drive my wife and daughter home. Never again.

Nope. I can think of better places to use the $750. I haven't had to change a tire in over 40 years, so tire rot has been an issue. Tires are much better engineered than they were when spares were commonplace.
Same for me. I haven’t owned a vehicle with a spare in at least 20 years.

In the end, it depends on the use case. Someone stated that they need it for a beach permit - ok, this fits well. Adventuring on true off-road trails? I would want a full-sized spare, not a compact. My "adventures" are going up some forest service roads to fish or camp, but I'm not that far off the main road, so I'll just get a can of tire fix. Not sure what a compact spare gets you in the end.

It gets you the capability to swap out the tire if the fix a flat cannot fix the issue. Not all punctures can be fixed with a can. So you are buying piece of mind and greater chances of resolving any issue.

Yup. We'll be buying one.

I'd have gotten a Modern Spare for our Ioniq5 ages ago if it didn't mean that would be a constant annoyance in our above-floor storage space in the back. Kudos to Rivian for blocking out that carrier space beneath the floor.
