I refuse to believe that Rivian engineers are smarter than random people who post on this forum.

This wiper blade position is probably a bug and they got lucky. No one is smart enough to figure out how to solve for this situation, except for internet forum members of course.

I had a mercedes once, that automatically moved the wipers up and elevated them when the temp was below freezing and the car was parked.. maybe this is like that?

I'd like to know what the tradeoff was in terms of efficiency by not going with a traditional wiper on the glass or putting it up top.
They R2’s rear window is a power window that “rolls down“ into the tailgate.

and, inverting Tesla’s patented camera wiper design would put the wiper at the top of the dome and help mitigate debris from collecting in and around the wiper.

I would not be surprised if Elon nicks the entire mechanism due to his “the best part is no part“ philosophy, but on the other hand, he could collect royalties for other car companies that want to employ such a device. Then again since Tesla is all in on vision – only autonomy they may have no choice, but to employ some sort of complex, mechanical lens cleaner.

This forum just made me ask my lady does she ever use her rear wiper on her Acura MDX lol. She said yes but one of my vehicles is a jeep commander and I rarely ever use it.

I love how Rivian wiper is hidden. I also love how the wiper can be parked outside the housing for those who need that feature. I wonder if that feature is from Rivian owning so many aspects of their software that they can add such a feature in mid process or was that initially thought of when choosing the wiper motor and parts.
