Looking for some commiseration and convincing here. Like several others have reported, I am in the midst of a Goodyear.com SNAFU.
  • I ordered a set of Wrangler Territory AT tires online and scheduled the install for a week later at a nearby Goodyear shop.
  • When I arrived for the install appointment the shop said they had not received the tires and advised me to call the .com customer service line.
  • My email confirmation said customer service hours are 9am-9pm ET. That's a lie. They actually close at 6PM ET.
  • Called the next morning and was told they could not check status as the warehouse was closed on Saturdays. The rep promised to call me back on Monday. They did not call back.
  • Sent two emails to inquire about the status of my order. The only reply says "You [sic] email has been forwarded to the proper department and an associate will contact you." They have not contacted me.
So, should I:
  1. Gut it out and deal with the Goodyear.com hassle.
  2. Work directly with the local Goodyear shop and forego the 20% online discount code?
  3. Throw in the towel and get a set of Nitto TerraGrappler G3's or Toyo OpenCountry AT3 EV's from America's (aka Discount) tire?

I suppose I should note that I am looking for a on-road biased AT. Not interested in a purely on-road tire like the Defender LT/X or a serious AT tire like the BFG A/T KO3.

Hi @foxerson,

As a Goodyear tire designer, this is genuinely frustrating to read, and I’m sorry this has been your experience.

I would encourage you to reach back out to the local Goodyear shop, ask to speak with a manager, and request that they re‑check the status of the order and any associated shipment information.

I know that doesn’t undo the hassle you’ve already been through, but I do hope they’re able to help get this resolved for you quickly.

Hopefully this helps,
Brian

I have about 12k miles on my GY Terrirory tires since I installed them last July. My lifetime efficiency on my Gen 1 Quad R1T is 2.15 and that's a mix of city as well as long distance road trips.

Some companies really don't like to make money. If I had a nickel for every time a business made it unnaturally hard to buy their product...I'd have at least a few hundred bucks 🤣

I got my Goodyears from Discount Tire (aka America's Tire) which is the gold standard around here....I think they're franchised so it can be hit or miss but I've almost always had great experiences there, and the one time they messed something up they were good about making it right. You should be able to get the same Goodyear tires from them, and often they will price match/beat other deals. You just have to ask.

Seeing similar. About 6k miles on them averaging just over 2.2.

The last 1500 miles has been at 2.45, but it has been non-HVAC season for most of that.

Similar mix of city/highway/off-road without towing.

I concur with the below, reach back out to the shop to check their shipment, and floor, they might just be sitting there and someone missed them.

Thanks for the commiseration. Things are looking up. I called the Goodyear.com customer service line again this morning. The tires got delivered to the shop on Monday. Installation is now rescheduled for Thursday. The Goodyear.com agent also offered to refund the installation cost which seemed like a nice, and unexpected, gesture to make up for the hassles.

Well, you clearly aren't the first to suffer from their bad delivery/install timeline. Good to see them treat you right though!

That’s great to hear—sounds like Goodyear is working to make the situation right. Hope you enjoy the new tires!

Hey Brian ! These tires have been great so far off road. Unfortunately I gouged a chunk off the side and wonder if these are safe to run till the tread is gone. Do you think its fine? I can't seem to see any of the wire mesh.

Hi! Looks like you’re giving the Goodyears a proper workout out there and doing your part to keep the world adventurous forever!
My personal opinion, if it’s holding air and you’re not seeing any cords or wire, I’d probably keep running it for now. I’d suggest keeping a close eye on it, monitor the pressure and make sure the damage doesn’t grow or start bulging. If anything changes, I’d suggest replacing it.

Final numbers. I decided to replace them with the same. MyTireGuys in Massachusetts installed them again and have always done fast, good work in my opinion. Overall happy with the Goodyears.

I am no tire expert but I would get new ones. Having a tire blow out on the freeway sucks.
