Curious. My 2023 with 199xx VIN was marked as not eligible, unless they've updated their database since they first announced the retrofit.
Was also told my 211xx was ineligible by Rivian.com chat support a few months back. Going to ask the SC to double check next time I visit because I'd really like a PTC.

I'm supposed to be getting my tonneau replaced next week and got the Estimate. If i'm reading this thread correctly, if they are doing the PT01177477-B Roll up Cassette, that is the newer 36 slat version correct?
Quoting myself .. Got it installed today and it's the new one. Holy crap it's so much quieter and just looks/feels higher quality.

2nd owner of VIN 13XXX without a PTC and I have called Support twice regarding the Gear Shop PTC. It's pretty much the only option the original owner didn't have on the build and the one option I really could use. The first time I called was immediately after it became available, I was told they 'cannot offer retrofit' for my VIN with no further explanation. I have a contact at my SC and I asked him about this issue, he said they were swamped with PTC orders and to wait until around the new year to see if they worked all the parts/install bugs out then try to order again through Gear Shop. My second call was in January and was once again told not compatible, I asked why and was told it had something to do with a harness but could not get any further details. I recently submitted an email through the Support Center Contact Form and they replied as follows:

I’ve submitted a request and reached out to our dedicated internal team to review why your 2022 R1T Quad Adventure (VIN ending in 013XXX) is currently showing as “Cannot Offer Retrofit” for the powered tonneau. They’ll take a closer look at the specific configuration and eligibility for your vehicle, beyond just what you’re able to see physically on the truck.

I received a call from Support a few days later and had a lengthy conversation with the Rep. I expressed my dissapointment with the fact that the new PTC was still not available to ALL R1T owners and how could it be that an R1T built without the PTC option was so different in wiring from one with the PTC option? He didn't have an answer for me but said he would forward my concerns up the chain of command. He further advised that the best way to get this issue resolved was to use the 'Share Feedback' option at the bottom of the Rivian App. He said the more owners that submit feedback for the PTC to be retrofitted for 'Cannot Offer Retrofit' VIN's the greater the probability would be for a resolution. This is just my experience but if you want a PTC for your 'Cannot Offer Retrofit' R1T send some feedback as to your concerns and maybe we can get something done sooner than later.

It's just stupid because it's a 4' long harness that plugs into and replaces the existing one to add the plug end for the PTC. From there it's completely compatible. Problem is, they (corporate) won't add the sub-option for service centres to select the incompatible VINs and add the "no harness" option to the retrofit.

I'm almost 100% certain, even if I bought the harness, and installed it, they would still refuse the retrofit because as far as their system is concerned, mine is an incompatible VIN and there's no path forward. Even if I showed them it was.

IIts a case of willing service centre personnel, but an unwilling corporate/system level flexibility for those affected.

I shared feedback with Rivian also. When I purchased the Rivian, my guide at that time said the power tonneau cover would be available for purchase next year (2025). This was one option that was very important and I figured the manual tonneau cover would be fine for a bit . Rivian just replied back saying they hear my concern and will share the feedback with the team. It seems dumb that they can’t add a wiring harness and charge us a few hundred dollars for it .

The Tech at the SC also suggested that "...maybe a 3rd party will come up with a solution", which didn't sound promising to me. I'm surprised that no one, 3rd party, has designed a manual roll out/in slat cover like the one on the Hyundai Santa Cruz. It could be DIY with no need for wiring, bed trim/button replacement, software upgrade and should be way cheaper than $3K!

Adding an additional data point: customer service told me my ‘23 R1T VIN 20xxx is eligible for the V2 PTC and scheduled it as part of my SC visit in 2 weeks. I’m not sure how to check manufacturing date (bought the truck used from a third party dealer) but if it’s something I can self serve finding out, I’m happy to report back!
Did this happen? I have the same VIN series and was told multiple times "nope."

I too have been told multiple times that mine isn't compatible I'm 15xxx. SC confirmed I'm missing the harness and they're unable to source one. This is so incredibly frustrating to be stopped by a piece of wire. I'm a bit pissed because I've been holding onto this truck being told by Rivian on multiple occasions that I could get the tonneau cover installed at a later date and its value has just been depreciating the entire time. It was even at the service center for a v1.5 install and the tech's said to hold out for this one. Vs having been able to trade this in when it was worth more and gotten a truck with it.

We should continue sharing feedback with Rivian corporate in hopes that they allow service centers to get the wiring harness. Maybe if enough people voice their concerns, Rivian will do something.

It still blows my mind.
I'm fully willing to pay the extra cost for the harness and its installation.

It did! Had it installed a week ago with no issues. I’m coming from a manual cover, so can’t speak to the original PTC, but works very nicely. I’ve been trying to think through why mine was seemingly an exception to the rule and I’m curious if my build (silver with the 21” aero wheels) has something to do with it? I bought it used so don’t know what the order process was in ‘23. Could it be a bunch of the Silvers were made without custom orders and then maybe not fully assembled until later (hence my build date being in the range of others here)? Just thinking out loud on what could explain it 🤷‍♂️

If you weren't so far north, I could order you the OG wiring harness and adapter they're using for us oldies. Just show up with it and go "oh look, I found a harness! Now where's my f-ing powered tonneau install?"
