  1. Ketchum: Wait for LiDAR? - The Rivian R2 LiDAR story isn’t what you think

I agree with your business perspective. Rivian doesn’t want to create early adopter launch customers without RAP1+LiDar and those with it 6 months later. I think they’ll hit their 25K goal by the end of the year and that will be it for the launch package. The Premium might be the first R2 with...
  2. Ketchum: Wait for LiDAR? - The Rivian R2 LiDAR story isn’t what you think

There are also people waiting for a more affordable R2. Not everyone has $60K to drop on a vehicle, especially in today’s economy. Unless I win one of these EV contests, I’ll be waiting for lease deals on the R2 Standard Long-Range RWD. If I can’t make that work I’m going to lease something...
  3. Half Moon Grey R2 with Ammo Reflex V Enamel Coat

Dude, that looks amazing!!! I’m definitely going to look into Ammo Reflex V.
  4. Do We Think The R2 Lottery is Over?

Is your lease ending soon? I put my lease info in (Model 3 lease doesn’t end until Dec 2027) and they gave me the timeline of December 2026-February 2027 with most trims available.
  5. Will Gen3 hardware be included with R2 Launch Edition later?

Interesting. So how much does a non-Launch Performance cost then?
  6. Will Gen3 hardware be included with R2 Launch Edition later?

It makes the most sense that they offer all of these extras for the R2 Performance with Launch Package as an incentive for early adopters. Then when the RAP1 + LiDar is available they drop the Launch Package and release the non-Launch Performance, Premium, and Standard trims. You’ll have to buy...
  7. Four years, four R1Ts. An adventure and a bitter-sweet cautionary tale.

I truly believe that Rivian wants to become a mainstream automaker. They also don’t want to lose their adventure branding and will take everything they’ve learned from the R2/R3 and throw it back at the R1T/R1S. In many ways the R1 line was over-engineered and a lot more cost can be pulled out...
  8. Four years, four R1Ts. An adventure and a bitter-sweet cautionary tale.

Thanks for all the great info. In regard to your concerns about the R2 sharing the same suspension and brake components as the R1, it doesn’t have the same air suspension as the R1 models; instead, it features a more traditional suspension system. The R2 doesn’t use the same half shafts as the...
  9. Rivian Paint Color Replacements - Predictions & Speculation šŸŽØ šŸ¤” ā‰ļø

I’d love to see some crazy colors on the X/RAD model trims. Maybe they’ll borrow some colors from the logo or test vehicle wraps? šŸ‘€
  10. Rivian Paint Color Replacements - Predictions & Speculation šŸŽØ šŸ¤” ā‰ļø

I like your thoughts. I swear they were calling R2’s white color Cloud White Metallic at first. I guess it would have had metallic flake in it. More of a pearl finish. Unlike Glacier White, which seems very flat. Catalina Cove isn’t the Laguna Beach Blue of the R3X, is it? Someone once told me...
  11. Rivian Paint Color Replacements - Predictions & Speculation šŸŽØ šŸ¤” ā‰ļø

It seems to me that Rivian has cooked up some new colors not just for the R2, but for the R1 as well. Here’s what I THINK replaces what and what stays the same (for now). I also wonder what possible new colors they might come up with at the Georgia Plant Paint Shop (Coming in late 2028?) Please...
  12. 900 mile towing trip

Tesla has a longer cable on their V4 charging stalls. They really need to retrofit the V3 stalls. And more pull-through stalls are needed. Glad you didn’t have any issues.
  13. Erie, PA to NJ shore and a scenic diversion

Check out the New River Gorge in West Virginia. It’s beautiful too. There’s a section called The Endless Wall Trail with some amazing views. They even added these cast iron staircases where you can climb down into the Gorge. I really want to go back there.
  14. R2 compact spare tire purchase

I heard someone say you could get one cheaper at Tire Rack. It just has to have the same bolt/lug pattern and diameter, I think. It would be worth asking a tire expert. Spare tires shouldn’t be proprietary.
  15. Lease or buy?

Doesn’t seem to be happening. If I can get a Standard down to $500 a month financed with a lease trade-in and some money down then I’m in. If not, I’m not sure what I’ll lease while waiting for the R3. The R3 Standard might not be out until late 2029/early 2030, so I’ve got a while.
