Hi all, anyone been to, or going to Oregon from SoCal in an R1, towing? I'm heading up to Coos Bay, Oregon Coastal Dunes in a few days, towing a single axle tent trailer with two ATV's. This is not my first time going there but it will be my farthest EV road trip yet. Any helpful suggestions? On previous long trips I usually charge from 10-20% up to 80-90% and keep going. I can't believe how it does it in the heat of the summer and hate to think what it does to battery pack longevity. I guess I'll just use ABRP and other apps to help find charging along the way and hit as many RAN chargers as possible.

Sounds like a fun trip! My only suggestions are:

1. Try to optimize charging by staying between 20-80% for speed and playing it safe in case a planned charger is broken.
2. Use ABRP, but after it suggests charging stops, double check with PlugShare. You might find better/faster chargers along the way, and ABRP might suggest broken ones.
3. Your efficiency will likely be halved in a worse case scenario with the towing, so plan accordingly.

I’m sure others can give you some more tips, as I’ve never towed before.

Thank you for your words, good points. Yes I'll cross reference with Plugshare. I'll tow a relatively light 2000 lb package which I think on past trips reduced range about 30%.
