Received a call recently from the Rivian service contact center that they wanted to schedule our R1S (Gen 1) in for a TSB to replace some part of the coolant systems (best I could get out of them is the expansion tank). Has anyone else been called about this?

It was an interesting experience as they fist left a voicemail saying call us back ASAP. So I did. The person that answered was basically only instructed to schedule us and it was pulling teeth to get actual information.

Then when they read me their script, it said “we’ve proactively identified a coolant issue in your vehicle based on sensors…” so I questioned whether this was a field campaign or actual reaction based on a sensor. Our R1S just had the front drive unit replaced, so I thought if that’s the case it could have tripped the sensor as they had to flush and refill coolant. They don’t know.

Local service center called and left a voicemail saying it was a campaign that just came out.

So I guess we will see in late March. Doesn’t seem that urgent. 🙄

My 2025 Gen2 RIS is sitting in Chelsea for that same repair. A month or so ago I got "Coolant Low" and "Thermal System Failure" error messages. No obvious leaking fluid (it is blue, so should be obvious). Did a reset and it went away but then came back every once in a while. Scheduled service and it has been sitting there for a week or so at this point.

When I brought it in they said there have been cracks in the Degas bottle (basically, a reservoir for the coolant). The cracks are almost always high up on the bottle, hence there are rarely any actual fluid leaks. But because of the crack the pressure drops and trips a sensor.

If there is no obvious fluid leakage getting it fixed within a few weeks is probably fine. But this could certainly brick the vehicle under the right circumstances.

I had this done yesterday. It was a quick one day repair. Degas bottle and hose replacement. I didn’t have any warning lights or issues, SC just contacted me and said it needed to be done. I did just have the rear drive assembly replaced a few weeks ago, maybe that triggered something. Or maybe it was just coincidence. Either way, the truck is back and is as good as ever

My 2023 R1S is at the service center for this coolant tank repair (my tank apparently developed a crack). The G48 coolant leaked and my front tire sprayed it around the wheel well and was also dripping onto my garage (and it doesn't wash off easily without soap/detergent--it has a very thin oil-like consistency probably due to silicates in there). Normally, the coolant is blue but when mixed with the winter grime, it appeared more blackish.

I can't tell if they flush the system and put in all new coolant. Do you know? I just go the call the other day for this.

My R1T was in the shop for the entire month of April. Replaced 12v batteries, front drive unit (twice!) and the high voltage battery. Had it back for just a week and last evening I got a service call saying I need to bring it in for a coolant check

This is how it happened for me as well. I was less than enthused…

They have a TSB and are fixing it, that's nothing like Saab.
