At this point I’m leaning towards:
  • LAUNCH Edition Launch Green with Dune Wheels. Love that not many will have the Gen 2 Quad in launch green. Wish the interior was different.
  • Storm Blue with Slate Sky and Dune Wheels. Launch is sold out so now I’m just paying extra because I wasn’t quick enough. Storm Blue looks great but I worry its everyone's favorite color and the streets are going to have too many in a place like NJ.
  • OR you tell me what the best build would be that is possible with the choices. Exterior Color/Wheels/Interior
Thanks in advance!

I'd get the one with four motors.

I second this: Storm Blue with Slate Sky and Dune Wheels.

But if money was no object, Rimac Nevera.

I have storm blue/slate sky and i dont really care for the exterior color that much but i love the slate sky interior. Since I see the interior all the time I consider it a win.

the slate IMO is the best interior. What exterior color would you get with the slate if not storm

I spec a canyon red, sport wheels with ocean coast interior every now and then for the day that I'm stupid enough to press the order button. Wasn't fan of the sports wheel at first, being seeing them in person and having driven one with them made me a believer.

Truck, quad, adventure and off road package. The SUV has a shockingly horrible ride. I hated it.

Given that I had the same questions as you, I called the nearest Rivian Spaces and asked them what they had before I made a 4h30m drive. Before the trip, I absolutely couldn't stand Slate Sky in any pictures or videos I saw it in and I wasn't sure about the Storm Blue because it looks really bad on the configurator. There was one video where I saw both and I was curious. Once we saw it in person with both the Storm Blue and Slate Sky we immediately knew it was my only choice. In pictures, I loved the Ocean Coast, but in person, we were "Meh!", its nice!
Find a place you can see the options you're interested in, drive there, and it'll make all the difference. Due to the poor turning radius of the R1T, which was my go-to for years, I quickly changed my mind with a few simple u-turns and tight parking lot turns in both the R1S and R1T. I'll get an R1T later when I get another house with a larger and deeper garage.

The ride difference on the new Quad is very noticeable. It was about the most improved thing I noticed on my test drive of the new Quad R1S.

Last week I was driving my gen1 R1S and remarked at how bouncy everything was. My gen2 tri is nothing like that at all.

If that is "improved" then I really hate to think what the gen 1 is like. I was given a 30 minute drive in the new quad R1S, and it was insanely awful. I kept trying to tweak it, but no, just terrible no matter what. Plus it's SOOOO much slower than the truck, never really hooks up and you waste a lot of the quad's potential. Squirrely as hell trying to launch.

Also, the color doesn't matter. You get whatever color is cheap/fast. Then you get @twraps PPF and make all stock colors look totally boring.
