"According to new data from the auto marketplace CarGurus, the average price of a used Cybertruck has plunged a staggering 30.35% in the last year, now hovering around $84,027. This dizzying drop for what was once one of the most anticipated vehicles in history is a major blow for Musk, confirming that the Cybertruck has failed to find a mainstream audience.

The collapse in the used market mirrors its disastrous performance in the new market. In the second quarter of this year, Tesla sold only 4,306 Cybertrucks, a 50.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from Cox Automotive Kelley Blue Book.

The Cybertruck’s failure is the leading edge of a much larger problem for the company. The same CarGurus data reveals that used Tesla prices as a whole have now plummeted below the average for the entire U.S. used car market.

As of early August, the average price for all used vehicles in the U.S. was $28,048. The average price of a used Tesla was just $27,852, down a steep 14% year-over-year. "

“Average price of a used Tesla” seems like such a flawed and possibly meaningless factoid. Particularly during a time when they have pushed cheaper cars and there are more inexpensive EVs on the market. Certainly, “go woke go broke” applies too, and the lithium dumpster fire is a joke. I just find these numbers pretty useless.

I wonder what will happen to the assembly line and all the unsold Wankpanzers? A nearby city is in a pissup with Tesla because they have hundreds parked in an old parking lot. I guess they call this storage and it’s not legal they claim. Who’s maintaining those? Who wants the “old” trucks as new?

And yet the company is trading at $330/share and valued at $1.06T while Ford is $45B and Toyota is $300B.

it’s all a fucking joke.

Partly because despite all the lying and ketamine-fueled Twitter spew, Musk keeps making history-changing products and services. Anyone who doesn’t see the incredible human benefits of things like Starlink has their head in the sand. Different companies but carrying the same reputation (good and bad).

Also partly because it’s a meme stock.

Im not sure what Starlink has to do with Tesla as a company being a dumpster fire.
Also, SpaceX is actually run by Gwynne Shotwell and she’s an actual professional.

It’s right in my post. The Musky scent travels to everything he’s involved with.

EDITED to add: As I said, good or bad, or whatever. The answer is that, whether you like it or not, or think it's stupid (I think it is).

I looked on CarMax for the price they are asking for a CT. They had exactly 0 (zero) for sale.

Carvana stopped buying them at all, and last I looked, had one for sale. Had to look, yeah, it's gone, zero for sale, no offers.
