One thing I never see discussed with the tri and quad is the real HP. While they have 850 and 1,025 respectively...I assume that to be in sport mode at low ride hight, similar to performance mode on the dual.

What HP do these actually put out in all purpose/ conserve mode which is what most people will use 99% of the time.

I bet the dual, Tri and quad have similar 0-60 times in conserve (all purpose on dual)

I'm a Gen 1 dual owner, I think that's the sweet spot, but I'm curious.

850, because my tri lives in sport mode. Who cares what they run 0-60 in conserve, as that's not what conserve is for. I thought my gen 1 quad wasn't quite fast enough but the tri is that sweet spot for me. In answer to your question, AP mode is 70% of the available power.

You thought the Gen 1 quad wasn't fast (quick?) enough 🤯, my Gen 1 dual is plenty... quick enough... For me. The top speed could be higher across the board but no good reason to be going over 118mph on the road.

So if AP mode on a quad is 70% power , that would be 718hp.. Why limit the dual to only get it's full power (and I guess I'm really talking about torque) in sport mode?

Probably 500hp and 112mph like every other Rivian. In launch mode, the quad bumps into the speed limiter at 128 on the Q mile and gets beat by the Gravity. After the Q mile it's going to be shown the door by pretty much everything sporty on the road. Still impressive for an off-road vehicle though.

I have a suspicion that tri and quad (both gens) are near identical in AP standard. The half shafts can only take so much force at standard ride height, and I'll bet that's the limiting factor for power. Any motor config can more than max out their strength in standard height. That's why even dual needs to be in sport mode for full power

If you're going from 718hp to 850hp, that's actually only an 18% increase in scare power.
I was going for the laugh more than the math, but since you brought it up...
I have a Gen2 RIS Trimotor, 850 Hp. If All Purpose is 70%, that would be .7*850=595.
Then to get from 595 back to 850 is a percent increase of (850-595)/595=0.43 or 43%.

In any case, enough Hp for nearly all situations.

Don’t get me wrong the gen 1 quad is really quick. It’s also extremely friendly. With the 4 motors you get amazing traction no matter what. Breaking the tires loose is difficult and it launches with little effort.

That’s sort of the problem. My wife’s i4M50 is slower than a Gen 1 quad, but feels much faster because it will bite you if you’re not careful. The fast cars I grew up with barely had traction control and it took skill to keep them on the road without crashing. The tri feels closer to those cars and you can do stuff like power slide at will. RIP my tires, but it’s so much fun when you turn from a standstill onto a 55MPH road that’s three lanes and just send it.

The rear wheel bias makes it loads of fun to drive.
