Umm... It's the door handle...After hearing about these Tesla owners getting no power and stuck inside their vehicle, I’m wondering where is the manual release lever in gen 1, if any?
The front doors have a manual handle clearly visible to the occupants, the rear is hidden and not clearly labeled in my opinion. So only gen 2 are electrical door handles? Where is their manual release if power cuts out?
Literally right next to the open button. So only gen 2 are electrical door handles? Where is their manual release if power cuts out?
Only covered in the rear. The gen 2 has a door button and a lever? The picture shows the button and just the trim. So you have to rip off the trim to access the manual release lever? Seems over complicated.
Rear does have a manual release. It’s just concealed under a panelShould have just added manual release in rear also in my opinion. Just in case.
There should still be an easy mechanical backup on the rear doors like there is in the front. Imagine trying to remove a panel to find the hidden release while the car is on fire. Or imagine your friend or a kid trying to find it to get out. Horrible design. The lack of mechanical door handle is probably a simpler design. Electronic door handles allow the door locks to be software controlled, such as the door not opening into cyclists or cars when they are detected.
The other thing is doing this design probably replaces child safety locks for the back doors. That's why you have to remove a panel
Better for dog mode too as the dog can't open the door
people complain that tesla has this design, but more and more cars are going to copy it.
