I see the long lines of cars for after school pickup. It always strikes me as a risk, compared to the bus-or-walk school transport of my youth, decades ago. Why does everyone pick up their kids now?
No buses. Lots of Cali districts don't have buses period. In NJ our district is removing buses if you live less than 2 miles from the school. I definitely wouldn't want my kids crossing some of these streets. Also pre-school activities like extra help and sports.

I don't believe this particular private school even has buses.

I do often wonder the same thing for public schools with buses. It seems like a huge waste of a useful resource.

The only times my parents drove me to school was when "my alarm failed to go off"

They made their annoyance at me very clear.

So the driver is now responsible... The local PD issued a press release on Friday indicating that this was a tragic accident and the driver was not being cited.
I wonder what changed the narrative?
Eyewitnesses? Driver confession? Video Footage?
Do you have a news article link?

I'm not seeing anything that says the driver is being charged with a google search of San Fernando Valley school or Campbell Hall School.

I likely missed it in this discussion, but somewhere along the way of my Model 3 ownership since May 2018, Tesla added an Obstacle Aware Acceleration option to the vehicle settings after one of the unintended acceleration accidents. This is designed to detect pedestrian/vehicle/building obstacles and limit the power to the motor. I have it enabled, but It’s difficult to test safely.

I don't have a link to the press release I read last week.
I didn't read anything indicating that the driver was being charged... I was just responding based on the title of this thread vs. what I had read last week.

Thanks for clarifying.

My understanding is the old title was viewed as click bait so the title was changed.

The new title is factually incorrect as nothing in the linked article says the driver is blamed.

Nothing I've read since then has brought to light any new info as to what happened. It's still all speculation.
