Sure, if you spend a considerable amount of time planning your trip out and finding unique charging stations that have limited options around them, sure, it would cut back on the charging time, but that is not how it works when traveling with passengers.

I do not mean to upset anyone with the post. Just sharing my experience, both positive and negative. I do stand by my comment that ICE travel is more efficient than EV when trying to get from point A to point B in as short of an amount of time as possible. I don't care what kind of charger or platform you have.

It's not a whole bunch of planning to select chargers capable of 350kW. All you have to do is set the filter in the nav for 350kW and boom, trip planned.

Me too, well, only two of them. So the new one being too much like my 1999 is just offensive.

Most of the things you mentioned don't need to be physical buttons. I've never touched the headlight or wiper buttons for example; blinkers with just touch like Tesla are awesome. Tesla now has auto unpark/park so no buttons needed.

I think I could get used to the blinkers, headlight and shift not being physical buttons but things like that have been the same for decades and don't require any thought to use (except the round shift knob my last Ram had. Even after 9 years with it, I still didn't like it). But hey, I still miss the high beam switch being mounted on the floor as a foot control (the only vehicle I own with that is my 79 Camaro).

Right, but this was another one of my "cons." The navigation was inactive because there was not a subscription, so the map just showed blank, eliminating this functionality/conveinence.

It's so hard to tell the actual topic when quotes include a lot of stuff. I have to assume, for example, that you mean the nav. Not shocked, legacy auto is always looking for how to bone customers. GM is removing CarPlay as it gave owners too much freedom.

I had a loaner from Enterprise (WST trim) and it had Car Play at least.

The truck wasn't terrible - about what I would expect from a Chevy. Drove nice, smooth, quiet. Lots of plastic. I have a buddy with the Hummer EV and it has much nicer interior / software interface (again, for a GM, but still not Rivian level).

For the price of these new being similar to a Rivian - I wouldn't be compelled to have one. It's also funny how the Hummer they have all this "USA" stuff everywhere - Flag emblems, Freedom Watts, etc. I guess they know their audience.

The charging speed issue is related to the Superchargers not supporting 800V, that cuts the charging speed in half for the GM trucks. My Hummer battery, same size as Silverado has done 30-80% on an GM Energy charger in 26 minutes. It peaks at 350kw and is still charging at 180kw at 80%.

With the CT flop I was considering waiting for the Silverado EV off-road which is supposed to be out in 2025. After seeing the R1T in person this summer and with the VW JV I jumped over to the Rivian and very happy so far. Never test drove the Silverado but seems like a lot of truck, really more than I need. We love our Edison the Rivian, drives like a luxury truck. Love the interface except for the issues but figure those will be sorted out soon.

Or not. Looks like 49 cents peak, as low as 28 cents off peak (which runs from 10 pm to 8 am or noon depending on location).

Someone, could argue, this is membership pricing. Which i think would put the actual price near 60 pennies.

Azbill never said with membership pricing it was cheaper.
