I find this pretty useless - the Paak is only _slightly_ better.

What's been working well for me is using shortcuts / Action button to lock or unlock my vehicle.

I have it set to unlock since that’s mainly what I care about.

Proximity on my phone / fob handles the locking part. This is extremely helpful at home where I have it set to lock only.

For some reason the app is no longer working on my Apple Watch. I am running 18 beta dev IOS. When tapping on icon on my watch it no longer loads and when I go to Test Flight it shows “build removed”. When I go to the App Store, it shows it’s been purchased, but it does not let me download it. The button purchase is grayed out. Any suggestions?

I’ve done a full reboot of both devices and no luck

try a force close of your app on your Apple Watch. The. Make sure you go to the App Store on your iPhone. Make sure the new app is downloaded from your iPhone. It will show purchased. Everything worked for me after those steps.

I had trouble with the beta app (sometimes wouldn't connect to the car, widgets never worked, battery % never showed up etc...) but the "app store" version works great for me, no problems so far.

I deleted the old app from my watch (using the phone) and then downloaded the app store version. I didn't have to re-configure anything, it just worked.

Same here. I’m not running any beta and deleted the beta waakey and tried to install the new one on the App Store but it doesn’t show up on my phone or watch

Mine also stopped working last week. I tried re-installing the app from the App Store because it seemed to be "live" with positive reviews and a subscription option, that doesn't work either. Says no vehicle linked and unlike before there is now no way to add it as a key.

I have it set up as a action on the watch face, it works every time and has since I installed it. The developer is on discourse as well.

Got a reply from the developer and got it working. I had to install the app from the watch not with my phone.

I’ve had a few others with issues switching from the beta to the App Store version. There seems to be 2 ways people have been able to resolve this:

1) uninstall the expired beta on the watch and install via the App Store app on the watch itself
2) Sign out of the App Store on the phone and reboot the phone. You should then be able to install via the phone.

There seems to be some issue with the App Store itself so hope this helps.

Worked on this again this morning. And, thanks @suprteck for adding that feedback from the developer.

Here is what I have done so far:
  1. Delete Testflight from phone. The Waak app in App Store is formal now and Testflight is not accepting new entries.
    * Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

  2. Delete Waak app from watch. Power cycle phone & watch.

  3. Install Waak app via the Apple Ultra watch itself from the watch App Store.
    (i.e., not via your phone)

  4. Once installed, the Waak app is still going to remember the last installation and it thinks you are logged in with your Rivian credentials still. In the Waak app on your watch, scroll to the bottom and Logout.

  5. Now, Login with your Rivian credentials.

  6. Now, you may need to wait ~ 30 seconds to 5 minutes for Rivian to add your watch as a "phone key." Eventually, it will show up. On your Rivian phone app, it will be added as an inactive key under your driver key ID. In the vehicle, it will be added as a new inactive key and you can tap on it to begin pairing. You can also see a picture of the vehicle in your Waak app at this point.
  7. At this point, the vehicle and watch would attempt to pair but fail. One of the two would time out. Yes, I was initiating the pairing in the vehicle screen and opening the Waak app which was searching to pair. I
  8. I attempted it ~ 20 minutes later and while the vehicle and Watch/Waak still would not pair.

  9. I attempted it again ~ 30 minutes later. Still, the vehicle and Watch/Waak would not pair. At this point, I rebooted the vehicle screen (quick reboot) and walked away.

  10. I attempted it again ~ 20 minutes later. Still not pairing. At this point, I decided to log out of the Watch/Waak app and delete the greyed out Watch key from my Rivian phone app. Walked away to let things update (the vehicle still showed the Watch key despite me having deleted it from the phone Rivian app).

  11. 20 minutes later, I logged into the Watch/Waak app with my Rivian credentials. At this point, the Watch/Waak app will tell you that you are logged in, but it will look like nothing has happened (Watch says "No vehicles linked to the account"; Watch/Waak not showing in Rivian phone app as key). You just have to wait at this point.

  12. After ~ 10 minutes the Watch/Waak app finally showed my vehicle with a button to "Add Key." I selected it. You then have to wait 1 to 5 minutes for this to "roll through" on the Rivian end. Eventually, it will show up in the vehicle and you can try the pairing process. Still no luck. After a number of attempts, the Vehicle adds a yellow exclamation mark to the unpaired Watch. Getting pretty annoying at this point. Decided to reboot the Watch and Phone and try again later.
  13. Still not working after trying multiple times. Vehicle and Watch/Waak will not pair.
I've gotten further than yesterday, but still not working.

UPDATE 12/1: I tried a few more times with no success. I even set up a new driver for my wife and tested pairing her iphone as key with the Rivian just to make sure everything else was functioning correctly, and it worked quickly and easily. Unfortunately, I still can't get the WAAK app on the Apple Ultra to pair to the Rivian.

Yes I had similar problems pairing the watch to the truck. Took me about 30 mins and finally it worked. I don’t remember what I did but it was a pain.

I've edited this to reflect a few things learned later in the thread. Same concepts with more details.

It's beta, works perfectly for me. I used it yesterday when I let my phone battery die. Great backup.

If you can't get it to let you drive, or to do passive lock/unlock, then reboot the Watch. Also I'm on iOS 18 and may have different experiences. Others didn't have to reboot.

This sets up in the truck just like a phone but shows up as a key card. You will need to be inside the vehicle to set it up as a key. Launch the app, and it will guide you.

Important tip: You will need to log into your Rivian account on the Watch itself. If you use a proper password, that would suck a lot. Mine is 20 characters and very random/complex. But you can use your phone and its password manager to share the info. Just put the phone by the Watch or tap it, when you are in the login prompt, and the iPhone will prompt you to enter or share the password automagically.
How does one get the app?

I got the WaaKey app downloaded directly to my APPL watch ultra and successfully paired with my gen 1 R1S. But how do I set up the action button to lock/unlock? Will this only work in BT proximity of the vehicle? I don’t want to inadvertently press it and unlock the car when I’m not anywhere close to it!
