Disposing of 21" wheels

I am swapping out my 21" wheels for the 20". What did everyone else do with the old wheels? Is there enough of a market to try to sell them? Or is it something you end up getting stuck with.

Oh, I would definitely say that there is a demand. I would consider having an extra set for Winter tires but that is currently not in the budget.

How much are you looking to get for the wheels? And depends on whether you're including the tires or not and how much tread they have left.

There are a few posts in the California subforum of people trying to sell all 4 wheels and tires for $1k or even $500 and apparently not getting any takers.

Yeah, they won't sell like hotcakes, but since the R1T can store a full size spare, you might get interest. Lower the price over time if you're not seeing any offers., there will be takers eventually. I've sold couple already, down to the last one now.

I considered a set but then looked at the price of the replacement tire and fact there are no replacement options….best bet is to sell individually as a spare, will work good for anyone with 33” tires. Maybe $150 each - or $500 for all 4? Just keep dropping price till they sell…

Everything sells, if priced right. Be open to shipping. Be open to selling individually (some folks might want a full-size spare). Aluminum scrap, I think, is under $2/pound.

I picked up a set from another forum member for $750. Tires only have about 6/32nd on them but the wheels are in good shape. I plan to have my OE 21s powder coated. Michelin makes a tire for it now that is more reasonably priced vs the OE Pirelli.

I see quite a few on here and facebook market in area. They are not selling even at 1k or less for a set. I would definitely sell it as single for spare. I got one a year and a half ago with brand new tire for $500 as a spare. I would say $300 for each would sell locally.

You’ll likely wind up selling them individually as spares.

Jokers will inquire about shipping them the entire width of the US and then ghost you when you give them a shipping estimate (as if they’ve never paid for shipping in their life or interacted with people before).

Took me 6 months to sell mine individually and locally. Clean out a corner of that garage.

I certainly hope you wouldn’t literally dispose them. If it comes to that, I’m sure people would take them for free.

But, the best way to give away free cats is to charge for them.

I took quite a range hit by switching to 20" Bridgstone KO2's, great off road tires. I plan on keeping my 21's for summer road trip use and save the Bridgestones for winter use and off roading.

I am looking for a full size spare if you want to sell one. I am not sure if you still have the tire and wheel but am looking for both. I am in PA, 45 minutes south of Philly.
