OooooooooofI agree - but it is not feasible - 40% of Americans live in an apartment - many low income - most with no charging infrastructure....
We the American People - need to bring all MFG back to the USA - not just electric cars. Tariff everything imported is my moto - screw the squid pro screw that we have seen the past 50 years and gave away all of our MFG and power to China !!!!
Subsidizing EDVs - which NONE are really made in the USA - they are assembled - helps NONE of the USA. I would say give 50% tax credit to MADE IN AMERICA if there were any.
Yes, tariff everything and tax the people that already can not afford EV's for everything they buy. I guess that is what the american ppl have said they want though so lets really bring that inflation on.I agree - but it is not feasible - 40% of Americans live in an apartment - many low income - most with no charging infrastructure....

In addition to sales price, purchaser income and domestic content criteria for the new EV tax credit, the IRA also introduced a $4K credit (with price and income restrictions) for used EVs sold by dealers (likely to avoid private sale shenanigans). Again, the goal was to get them in the hands of people who couldn’t otherwise afford them, and help drive market growth.I might add that subsidies should also be given to those who don't pay (much) tax. They are the people who really need it.
I'm pretty sure the intention of the EV tax credit was not meant to help out those buying 100k+ vehicles.... The lease loophole needs to go, sure, apply it if you're going to lease a vehicle that would meet the tax credit if purchased. If there is no tax credit on leasing
I will cancel my Gen 2
Quad max
Yeah because Tariff's never impact inflation/cost of goods which was supposedly one of the top issues this go around (amongst a few others).I agree - but it is not feasible - 40% of Americans live in an apartment - many low income - most with no charging infrastructure....

There sure as F* is! The credit goes to manufacturer of the vehicle when the vehicle enters a lease agreement. In other words, the lease credit is passed on to person leasing the vehicle. Rivian (and Lucid) sales significantly benefit from this tax policy. If there is no tax credit on leasing
I agree with the last sentence. That would be closely aligned to the state incentive here in VT (which has now run out because it was so popular for that demographic). What if we didn't have EV credit to begin with?
Are you saying that you only bought or buy/lease Rivian because there was EV tax credit?
I get that once one has something and is being taken away, there is a feeling of anger and slight, as well as goes against one's general principle.
Personally, I am glad with the notion of EV tax credits going away. It never made any sense to me. Make a compelling products and people will buy them. Already, there are heavy discounts for EVs, just as there are for ICE vehicles by the legacy automakers.
My thought is if the federal government keeps any portion of EV credits, it should be for those that make less than $60k/yr for single, or $100K/yr for joint AGI filers for vehicles that cost less than $50K regardless of sedan or SUV.
You read that wrong, relax. They are saying if the lease loophole goes away...There sure as F* is! The credit goes to manufacturer of the vehicle when the vehicle enters a lease agreement. Just the beginning of the nightmare. Not great news although unsurprising. Stock off 10% now.

I would not have bought my R1S if it weren’t for the tax credit. I suspect there are plenty of people like me. Most people are price sensitive. What if we didn't have EV credit to begin with?

Suppose there was no EV tax credit on any EV. What would you have bought instead of R1S?I would not have bought my R1S if it weren’t for the tax credit. I suspect there are plenty of people like me. Most people are price sensitive.
