Has anyone used the CarPlay adapter from EV Sportline before?

I really want to get one, but I am not sure how the music will sound since it streams through Bluetooth. Also, does it seem worth it to you if you have one?

The sound experience is exactly what you hear today when you stream your phone audio to the Rivian.

If you like using thing like Waze on your phone then it’ll be worth it to you to see that on the EVS screen.

If you’re fine with looking at apps on your phone then you don’t need it.

Just an FYI, there’s nothing special about their screen as far as I can tell and you can get them on Amazon for under 100 bucks easy. They’re basically all the same. I have one I mounted it underneath my center screen and I very much enjoy it. I don’t like the look of it sitting on top of the dash, but I find it very useful. And I pointed out the sound is just regular. Bluetooth no difference.

I use it for running navigation software to monitor traffic on all my local drives and on road trips. I like to use the center screen for the Gauges view

I use the EV Sportline one and it works great. Yes, there are others on Amazon, but I really like the mount for the dash that came with this one. I had an underscreen mounted one from Amazon originally, but it really wasn't that useful to me, since you had to be looking at the floor to see it. It's much easier to glance at on the dashboard for me.

I don't stream music through it and actually prefer just leaving it unpaired from the Rivian itself so GPS alerts can come through the separate speaker.

Went with a CarPodGo to get Android Auto/CarPlay functionality. And here's the best part: ABRP (A Better Route Planner - owned by Rivian) is available as a native app. When connected to the Rivian it shows ETA, estimated range at destination, and current SOC (and yes, I know this is already displayed on the Rivian). Simple to install, easy to route the cable. Only wish I could have the Rivian logo at startup (CarPodGo says due to licensing issues, they *may* show owners how to install their own logos and/or artwork at startup). The monitor the Reddit feed and respond to questions. Also post beta firmware. I have mine connect via magnetic "breakaway" connector and mount/dismount the unit depending on the neighborhood I'm in.

Not saying it's better than EVSportline, just another option to consider. YMMV.

I am going to look into that one also. I never heard of it before now

What is the install like for the carpodgo. I saw the ev Sportline one give detailed instructions. Does the carpodgo one have Rivian specific instructions?

CarPodGo does not, to my knowledge, have Rivian-specific instructions. But since the device used to provide power is similar (12v plug, usually called a cigarette lighter adapter), I just . . . watched the EVSportline install video and did the same thing (same fuse tap, same fuse).

I thought it was easy, but not everyone has the same comfort level with installing aftermarket devices and accessories. I really liked the CarPodGo on a recent (August) trip to Michigan (from the Florida Panhandle). Another app that's available is MyRadar; even though it doesn't provide animated radar, it still shows current radar. The eastern edge of Hurricane Francine was rolling through when I left, and seeing the extent of the rainbands was helpful.

I really like the CarPodGo, but I understand it's not for everyone. Sure is nice getting text messages to play through Bluetooth in the Rivian.

I think the carpodgo would be the best for for what I need. Thank you for pointing me in that direction. Do you by any chance have a referral code?

I second the Carpodgo one from Amazon. I actually had the same unit EVsportline uses and it was not great (granted EV Sportline says they have their own firmware). Though I also had issues with it not being a very responsive screen. The Carpodgo is much better and sleeker looking as well.

I made my own mounting bracket in CAD and 3D printed it. It’s not perfect (I’d much rather an aluminum bracket like EVS has) but is working well for now.

I have the EV Sportsline one. If you have a gen 2 the installation is even easier than the video. Instead of tapping into a fuse, it plugs into what I am guessing is the vehicle diagnostic outlet. As for music, if you use Spotify, it will change the music selection in the native Rivian app. If you use another music source, it is through Bluetooth. I find the Bluetooth quality to be really, really good.

Really??? I have a gen 2. It will work with the Spotify so I don’t need to transmit through Bluetooth?

Have had the Evsportsline android auto screen/adapter since Feb. No issues, works great. Added a $5 off switch as otherwise the unit keeps automatically connecting to your phone if you're nearby.

I do not have a referral code. I bought it through Amazon and the discount worked out to be the same as ordering direct from CarPodGo. But with Amazon's return policy and Prime.

I really like mine and it's good to be able to just snatch it off the dash and stash it away to discourage any "admirers" who might consider a smash-and-grab. Plus, the whole integration with ABRP, MyRadar, Waze, Google Maps and others.
