Here's my use case...For camping and tailgating, I'd like to be able to use the following devices at full power at the same time without worrying about the 1,500W Rivian limit:
  • Blackstone Electric Griddle (1,600W)
  • Single Induction Burner (1,800W)
  • Portable compressor cooler/freezer (60W)
  • TV (Not sure of the wattage)
I understand that the wattages above are peak and would not typically be the constant draw. I would also be running all appliances for an hour at a time at most. I found this and it looks like it would work well as a buffer between the Rivian and my appliances:
Rivian R1T R1S Bluetti Portable Power Station - Is This The Deal It Seems To Be? 1726587746025-9f

Here's the direct link if anyone is interested: Bluetti AC180 Power Station

I've not seen anything else for this price that would give me four 1,800W outlets - the 12V, USB, and top wireless charger are just bonuses. Everything else seems to be $1,000 or more. My plan would be to keep the power station plugged into the Rivian (1,440W maximum draw) and then to plug my appliances into this.

Thoughts or comments? I'd rather not buy this only to discover that this won't allow me to run the Blackstone and induction burner at the same time. Thanks!

If it helps I have a similar Goal Zero and it can easily run my Microwave that the trucks inverter can't. I don't doubt this could run the appliances you mention but probably not at the same time.

Bluetti is a good brand the best I can tell, no personal experience. Only question is if you can recharge it with the truck, it's not possible with all of these stations.

We used a version of this on my last project (we had 3 solar panels with it), and it worked great. I'd definitely recommend it.

Looks great… and now I’m interested… but I don’t see the 50% discount on the link. Still valid?

Does it support pass-through (charigng via AC at 1440W while discharging via AC outputs?)? The Rivian's 120V output fluctuates in voltage with current causing trouble with higher power appliances like my microwave. Would be nice to use this as a voltage regulator.

It's not clear how long you can use the 2700w output. I only see this in the description, which actually sounds kind of inconvenient, "With a tap on the BLUETTI App, you can give it a boost to 2700W for your higher needs."

Overall output looks to be 1800w combined across all outlets, so if you're pulling 1600w on your griddle, you only have 200w to play with on the other outlets.

I think I'd opt for a propane griddle instead of this battery.

The price is $499 which is 50% off the list price of $999. I just checked and the price is still $499...I might have panicked that enough of you picked them up that it was sold out before I could click "Order Now"! I'm good...

I just ordered one...I don't think any one of my appliances will regularly be pulling the full wattage to which they're rated. If I do run into an issue with the Blackstone I'll simply plug it into the power station and plug one of my other appliances directly into the Rivian. I think this will work really well as the pass-through buffer. Time will tell...

I have a similar EcoFlow Delta Mini, smaller battery size, but capable of "boosting" up to 1800W output. I use it for that exact use case. To run things that are *slightly* too much for the Rivian. In my case, my travel trailer, whose AC unit's "startup amperage" is 13A, which just trips my Rivian's breaker, but the "running" amperage is low enough, so I use my battery to "smooth the startup" like that. Similar with my induction cooktop.

I know I got the idea to use a battery bank in this way somewhere on this forum - I just couldn't find the posts to thank the OP. When I saw this on Amazon for $500 I was pretty happy. I won't use it more than 8-10 times a year, but will have it when I need it.

Stupid Amazon (well, not so stupid from a profit perspective)...I ordered mine yesterday for $499 and today, probably because of a couple of extra clicks, the price jumped $50:

I purchased an AC180L with 200W panel earlier this year for $849. It works great with the 12V cooler, can run that for 4 days without charging. Going this route with the external battery lets you power stuff at the camp site without powering up the inverter in the Rivian and all the accompanying electronics. If you get a solar panel and it doesn’t keep up with your usage, power on the inverter for an hour to top off the Bluetti battery….
