So it's now 39 business days until Thanksgiving and the target date for Rivian Guides to reach out to all of the Launch Edition PreOrder holders. Was wondering if now that all the media embargo is over, and there is a ton of questions that have been answered by all the media reviews, that the pace of the guide calls would accelerate? My gut is that the original folks who have been contacted had calls that were 45 min to 1 hour long due to the amount of questions folks had about the vehicle before all this new information came out this week. Since it's unknown how many Launch Edition Preorder holders there are, it's tough to say how many guide calls per day are happening. I have not heard any mention of guide calls recently on the forum other than the lucky few who have gotten their First Mile calls. Been waiting since LA and deposit holder since Dec 10, 2018 and I know I'm not alone. Hoping that now that the number of questions for the guide get narrowed down to more of the when and how do i get my R1T that we can rapidly get to all preorder holders soon!

So stoked about the reviews. So glad i put a deposit in on my R1T. Now the hard part...the color selection and the wait! I'm confident the guide calls to all Launch Edition preorder holders will happen prior to Thanksgiving....Just hoping mine is closer to Halloween! ?

I just really hope they are able to give us a pretty tight window of when we can expect delivery. I plan on private selling my current vehicle and would like to have a little time to coordinate that.

Gonna have to be careful for awhile. The other manufacturers delivery dates are jumping around all over the place right now.

They will eventually be able to provide a tight window for delivery, but probably not as far in advance as you might hope. I don't honestly expect anything remotely close to firm until maybe 2 weeks prior to delivery. Would love to be wrong about that.

I'd wager you will get a firm delivery date once your truck is on a rail car...

For those who have ordered Teslas when there was a backlog, what was that process like? When did you get updates, and how accurate were they?

I'd be happy to hear about ONE new Guide contact within this forum community since First-Mile.

Well I have a Cybertruck reservation and haven't heard anything...

But realistically when I ordered a Model 3, they told me it'll take 3 months and it took 1. When I ordered my Model Y they said July and I got it in June. So I got both my Teslas early. So I'm probably not a good example. I believe there are people with Model S Plaid orders right now that have gone from September delivery date to January or beyond next year.

I can't speak to everyone's experiences when buying a Tesla, but...

I placed my order for my X and it was pretty quiet for several weeks.

Once my account had a VIN assigned, things started kicking into a higher gear.

It was probably 2 weeks (it's been a few years, so I could be off a bit here) when Tesla reached out to setup a pickup date and time a couple weeks out.

So, once the vehicle was built and VIN assigned, I was getting within a month of taking delivery (they still had to ship it, prep it, and arrange for my walk through).

I don't know if Rivian will follow the "Assign a VIN" thing though, since it can be hit and miss (at least with Tesla currently as they shift things around).

Here's a reference point (coincidentally got the email from Ford today).

In early May, I was considering the Mustang Mach-E, test drove it, liked it enough to place order (5/21/21) with a $500 deposit. Within a few weeks I decided to go with a RAV4-Prime, called local dealership to cancel for a refund. Instead they happily refunded my money directly but said they're keeping the order alive since customer orders can beat allocations sent to them. I pretty much forgot about it until Ford sent an Order status change email today with a scheduled Build date of 10/13. That's still not a Delivery date but shows you a well-established OEM is taking 5 month just to figure out when they can build it.

There isn’t much that’s accurate about Tesla.

I'm not an LE reservation holder. Only got 13 monthds under my belt. But GUESS where I will be during Thanksgiving??? The same place I have been for the last 20 Thanksgivings. Good old BloNo (Bloomington-Normal). My in-laws still reside there and it is where I grew up for a large chunk of my youth. And you better believe I will be stalking the area for spy shots and extra Rivian swag. ;)

Ford also is doing everything they can to make them in Europe so they don't get fined for not meeting an EV target.

That's why the GT and the others are so hard to find, the US is the dumping ground of all the gas cars the rest of the nations don't want

Just go to the factory ?

you’ve gotta be less than 2 degrees of separation from someone who works there
