So... On Thursday, I parked my R1T with ~5,700 miles ( delivered Dec '22 ) in the street because our driveway was being pressure-washed & sealed and it would take until Sunday for the sealant to dry enough to drive across. Florida summer sun - 96F. Truck was charged to 70%.... but used a windshield screen and it has Clearplex windshield film

Saturday morning, time to run errands.. Except I now have the Replace 12V battery message on the app. Truck still unlocks / responds, but the same message on the dash... interior temp over 100 at 10 am.

Didn't drive, used the app to chat Service... Service recommended putting the truck back in the garage and let it charge until it could be serviced, and gave a $150 Uber voucher... So I could at least run errands....

Tampa service center appointment showed up in the app on Monday morning for afternoon mobile tech.

Tech showed up on time ( white R1T with the gear tunnel rack filled with tools ). The truck only has the Rivian service logo on the passenger side, not the driver's side.
He replaced the battery - said it was one of the old batteries and that "our batteries are much better", topped up the tires and added a grommet into the portable charger ( apparently something Rivian recommended - haven't ever used it ... ).

He said the heat could have stressed the 12v battery while sitting unplugged...

Now its updating 27.01 as if nothing happened...

Concern:
- Customer States: on 08/17/24, 2:48pm EST , it has been observed that a "Replace 12v Battery"
telltale appeared on both the vehicle's infotainment screen and the Rivian Mobile App •Vehicle is
wellcharged, displaying 189 miles of range. •Vehicle was parked outside of customer's home at
time of telltale appearance during 91 degree Fahrenheit weather. Timestamp: 2:48pm 08/17/2024
Cause:
- Verify owner's concern found 12v battery depleted. Removed and installed a new primary &
secondary 12v battery. Performed RiDE calibration and procedure routine. Read/Cleared DTC's.
Performed function test, operating as expected.
Correction/Remedy:
- Disable 12V Power
- Battery, 12V, Primary and Secondary (Remove and Replace)
- 12V Batteries General Diagnostic
- RiDE Programming and Calibration (15 Minutes)

Can you tell me about this grommet thing for the portable charger? I never have so much as even opened the pouch it came in to see what is in there. Does it work without it?
Might need it on my next trip, but I guess I always can throw in my Tesla Mobile charger and with my Tesla-to-J1722 adapter, bingo. Thank you.

It is to help keep dust and debris away from the contacts. If you ever bring your vehicle or have have mobile service, they will add these grommets. Takes them 2 minutes. The charger will work fine without this update.

One of my Rivians is joining this club. Woke up to the Replace 12 V battery message in the app.

Called Rivian. Did a hard reset. Still seeing message in the app, but not in the vehicle. Mobile service scheduled 3 weeks out, but they'll try to move it earlier. Was offered a rental and Uber credits, which I declined for now, but may take them up on it in a few days.

This is on my R1S I purchased used in 12/2023. I think it was delivered new in 9/2023, so only a year old.

It hasn't happened to my 2-year old R1T with 2 batteries at the same house.
